You will find that getting insured on electronic licences and actually getting payed out on them are 2 totally separate things , my guess like most insurance firms is they'll find some excuse not to pay out they probably said yes to you just to get your cash however once you make a claim and they realise they are paying for something virtual they'll start playing you a completely different tune and refuse to pay you , they'll have you begging the Devs for replacement licences instead !!! MARK MY WORDS !!! ive seen it happen.iain_morland wrote: Where are you based? If you're in the UK, try Marks and Spencers insurance.
After several letters I did manage to get them to insure the licenses on my iLok.

Point taken and I am naturally suspicious of insurers (like estate agents, lol), so I was very careful to get it in writing from them, and accurately phrased (it took about 5 letters to get them to acknowledge I wasn't talking about "customer data"). The crucial thing for them seemed to be that the plugins themselves could be bought as a boxed product, not just a download.CANE CREEK wrote:You will find that getting insured on electronic licences and actually getting payed out on them are 2 totally separate things , my guess like most insurance firms is they'll find some excuse not to pay out they probably said yes to you just to get your cash however once you make a claim and they realise they are paying for something virtual they'll start playing you a completely different tune and refuse to pay you , they'll have you begging the Devs for replacement licences instead !!! But now that Waves has TLC [theft and loss] coverage I do not need the insurance anyway, so cancelled it. (Shock horror - Waves Update Plan actually adding value, I will now be flamed!!)
The only other thing on the iLok is for an EastWest PLAY synth, which I regard as worthless thanks to their hopeless technical support...but that's a rant for another day.

In one word : PERFECT.
This is THE saturation plugin !
Excellent on EVERYTHING so far.
Also very good on the 2-buss for adding THAT subtle (use the mix knob) "mojo" character.
The GUI is beautiful as well, so, a winner for me.
Only drawback, the CPU usage is HIGH.
But there is no compromise on the sound

Yes, this plug-in sounds great
There is a small problem with the beta installer (edit: this might only be a problem on OS X), which will stop your existing Soundtoys plug-ins from working, but here's a fix that is verified to work:

from Gearslutz wrote:Wow, just saw this. And I know exactly what it is. For SOME reason, the Decapitator installer adds a whole slew of custom waveshapes into the Library:Application Support:SoundToys:WaveShapes folder. The problem is that the new shapes are kept in subfolders, which the older software obviously can't handle very well.
The work-around: Navigate to Library:Application Support:SoundToys:WaveShapes and delete all subfolders located there.
We didn't catch this one because we and all of our beta testers are running a newer version of all of our plug-ins, and the installer for Decapitator inadvertently included some waveshape data destined for the new PanMan plug-in.
SORRY! We will post a fix tomorrow, but the work-around should suffice for tonight.

My favorite part is the built in preset browser, I hope the rest of the plug in line gets this addition.
... and oh yeah, it does sound great so far.

This is amazing.. Wow, this sounds good. Finally a digital distortion effect that doesn't just "sound like hardware", it sounds so good it can actually replace some hardware.
Here is an archive containing a synth sample that demonstrates well the characteristics of all the distortion types. Same drive amount used in all modes.
Finally. Decapitator is the real deal and the people behind it are absolute geniuses.

Hmmm,
I may still don't know saturation from distortion. Shy, yes it's an pretty good distortion from your samples, but for saturation (in my expectation, at least) I liked the Wavearts Tube Saturator better when I demoed it quickly. Of course, it could be that it's in fact the tube thing what I'm really after.
Cheers,
