Just uploaded mine in the nick of time..
Flex'n Morph - V'ger
16 Flex-N-Stein 4
Track Fx :
2 x Bionic delay
4 x MjMultibandCompressor
1 x Classic Compressor
3 x IIEQ
2 x HybridReverb2
3 x JB_Omniverb
1 x Voxengo Tempodelay
7 x Glaceverb
4 x KarmaFX Deelay
6 x Freeverb3
Master Fx :
1 x MjMultibandCompressor
1 x IIEQ
1 x NastyVSD
1 x BootEQmkII
1 x RescueAE
1 x CLAS
Would have like to work on it more, but my fault for not following the forum and missing the start..
As per the rules, there's no modulation or distortion on the tracks (not even chorus), though I did use a saturator on master. EQ was only used on drums and master, but as you can hear I sauced it well in with reverb and delays..

So, is anybody going to come up with a nicely realistic gui for this little beauty (OK, I'll admit it, I'm a superficial guy who has a hard time working with playful gui's, though I understand Tattie's point of view about it, of course. However, a metallic looking thing with pseudo real knobs would be great for shallow guys like me, and this thing definitely deserves it...

Great stuff V'ger, cheers for the submission!
.... Still nearly 10 hours to go though, possibly more depending what time I can be arsed gettin up tomorrow morning ... the idea of being up at 7.45am to disable folder uploads doesn't have a lot of appeal to be honest
Abstractcats, I'll take out your track and txt file, re-up when you are ready.

I hope that still on time
I managed to finish only unpolished and rough intro, but I'm submitting it anyway. Maybe you'll hear next part in the next OSC?

I didn't use the second envelope much, so that would be OK for me at least.tattiemannie wrote:That should be fine! ... I wonder how much value folks got out of the second envelope modder .... I suspect that could be cut out in favour of a randomiser which could be synced to host tempo or internal clock ( as with the sequencer ), or to 'note on'

Well after working with the Flex-N-Stein 4 for a while I must really congratulate you on a nice piece of work.tattiemannie wrote:....there's no upgrade since 4.01 .... but I do intend to ... still mulling a lot of ideas over, and open to any suggestions.
The main thing I would like to change, other than what I wrote a page or two back, is to have two 'flexiwave' oscs ... with one of those being able to do the FM/PM as well as having an audio out ... all morphable of course. the biggest prob I envisage is that the circuitry involved in the flexiwave osc is fairly substantial and may eat even more cpu. however, there is possibly a good chunk of said circuitry which could be shared by a second flexiwave osc ... so I'll certainly give it a go. The other hitch though, if i replace the current FM/PM osc with a flexiwave osc, I would need to find a way of providing a source of white/pink noise so any optimisation in adding another osc would need to take that into consideration.
It'll really all come down to what is lacking ... as demonstrated by this comp. Straight off, there's the creation of percussive sounds, and the 'anorexia' from having a single osc as the sound source.
I would say its likely that I'll produce more than one upgrade in the next couple of months ... one will address the above issues with a minimum of extra circuitry, ( or even a slight reduction!) and may possibly be lighter on cpu. The other will be geared towards making more of the flexible wave circuitry, improving on it if poss, whilst also adressing the above issues ... but the cpu demand remains a concern.
I admit I was taken aback by the GUI and the presets at first, but there is really a lot under the hood with some nice sounds and features, and rarely do you find a more CPU-friendly instrument. I could probably load and play about 50 of them. The 16 that I did use on the track + a ton of effects were occationaly playing at the same time and the averageish CPU didn't break a sweat and it was all rock solid without a single incident. As it's already so light to run and probably could use a tad more fatness, I would say any updates to the osc's would be good, and as proven by this competition, no one is really loading all that many in real life use, if so it is to fatten up a sound anyway. With all the nice free FX addons and the freedom to use them in combination, an onboard reverb or chorus etc is not really necessary to help the fattening imo and might just be an unecessary burden CPU wise(?).
I've already expressed a wish for adjustable pitch bend settings, and a nicer GUI would be welcome. Especially a status bar showing the exact parametric value of the knob. During my recent visit to 100's of VST sites in search of freewares, I remember seeing mention on a page an offer to make VST GUIs, but I don't remember were it was or if it was meant as in a commercial offer. I will try to find it again so we could ask as he did stellar work.
I also don't know if it was just me or my new DAW, but I noticed a real lack of velocity sensitivity and it was hampering.
This might be a noob thing, but I had no idea what exact version I was using, how do you look that up? I couldn't find any 'about' page.
