Huh? Catanya has been working fine since 5.01 here (now also in the newest 5.1.1). What exactly is not working for you?
When i load catanya in cubase 5.1.1, cubase freeze a first time

When i restart cubase, i've a lot of graphics bug (like empty windows) which make it unusable...

No response of 7aliens for the moment...

Chord recognition addon please! I'll pay hundreds for this feature!

"Chord recognition addon please!" I think it is useless feature for majority of users.

Much more important - to get more musical result from Catanya, now it is quite robotic and primitive.

1. We need more retriggering setups - now it is just retrigger when new chord starts. If I do not want to restart pattern with new chord - I have no option.

Look at ClockWOrK Vintage Stepsequencer VST - there are 4 resets (5th is "off")

1. bar
2. 2 bar
3. key (like Catanya now)
4. Start only

I'm with you on that one. Especially when there are other more important requests and fixes that should be considered.

This is extremely important in any plugin of this type. With out multiple trigger options, Catanya is virtually garbage, unless every chord you play is the same length as the pattern length every single time. The funny thing is that it seems that none of this will ever be addressed. In my opinion 7Aliens is not a solid developer because of the lack of comunication about any development process, feature requests, or updates. Shit, they never even bothered to write an actual user manual for Catanya even after some paying users have requested it. It just seems as if though they can give a crap about any of this. Glad I didn't waste any money on this "fad" plugin.

hmm you guys don't think chord recognition is important but you use chords.. do you plan on layering the arp?

it seems to me that the development of catanya is too slow anyways.. i don't think it's worthwhile to purchase such a software and someone else should develop this software.. the market is there.. but the company is too slow..

Don't get me wrong, it's not that it's not important, it's just that there are other major things that need attention.

Geez, so quick to jump on the devs. I should be glad I'm not a developer (anymore). :hihi:

Anyways, chord rec. would be nice as an inverse function, but the advantage here (so far as an early revision of the product) is that it takes you out of your preconceived patterns and sparks some creativity. I already know how to play chords, and I know theory, but I like being able to just hit a preview button of some otherwise unrealized chord or pattern which takes me in some other direction.

If you want chord rec., (or something close to it), just plug Harmony Improvisator (or some similar) in front of Catanya, and you'll get some interesting results.

Don't ask me, I just play here.

Thats why I'm so hesitant about posting my shiit here, since people look for opinions before downloading, and mine's been run into the ground before(tho they couldn't fault what it currently had). But its been too absorbing for me to ever quit.

Chord processing can take a lot of time though, since you have to build a chord database, work out the math, create a useable envoronment, excetera… They prob have most of that in place already, for all I know. But it involves more problems than non-devs can even begin to imagine! So devs really have to have their heart into it, with some moral support. I know I do at least!

The thing is - when you launch a product as a small developer, you also enter a community, like it or not, and you'd better play by the unwritten but rather natural rules of that community.

The first rule is to maintain a presence. I'd say the second rule is to communicate. And the third one is to do it in a nice way - in other words to project an image to the customer community.

Witness, for example, the huge success of Zebra 2 and ACE. Granted, they are two superb synths. But I suspect that the active and affable presence of Urs here on KVR has had quite a part in that success.

Same thing with Terry West, Soniccouture, Orange Tree, Camel Audio and many others.

I know that I'd much rather buy a synth or effect from a likeable guy who appears to listen and provides feedback, than one whose attitude is 'take it or leave it'.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

And Charlie Steinberg neither. I don't think posting in KvR is obligatory any more.
