Hi everyone
Whilst greedily tucking into my fifth mince pie and quaffing more vulgar port during the past hour, I somehow became misty-eyed about some of my favourite guilty pleasures.

Is there a song or piece of music that you really like, but probably shouldn't ever admit to doing (unless of course you happened to be drunk, it was Christmas and you were in the safe, non-judgemental bosom of KVR?).

Sunshine on my Shoulders by John Denver is definitely my favourite MGP.
Granted, Denver is certainly not cool, the lyrics could have been written by a 10-year-old and it was surely one of the songs performed by the two dubious looking troubadour geezers in There's Something about Mary?

But it always makes me feel happy when I'm angry, stoned or MAD.
...
Sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy
Sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry
Sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely
Sunshine, almost always - makes me high

...
:D

Anyway enough of my pissed up wibberings.
Wot's your favourite musical guilty pleasure then?

(Failing that, which brand of mince pies would you recommend?)

okay, I will admit to liking some John Denver (including that song and Annie's Song); I can also get behind songs by Bread and Steely Dan. A lot of those mellow 70's artists actually. Then there is Balls to the Wall by accept, a few tunes by Aimee Mann, Honey Hush by Foghat, a lot of 80's crap (that I hated at the time). Some pop crap number that's out right now where the girl sings about beer and guys that look like Mick Jagger, the Ting Tings, etc... Jesus, I f I go through my itunes list I would probably fill about 4 pages of this thread.

The funny part: someone will undoubtedly look at my guilty pleasures list and think "what's wrong with that?"

Maybe music is like women; as you get older you start to find something appealing about all of it.

oh my; those guys are like the Hall and Oates of that genre. Loved the gratuitous guitar wails and those clothes are to die for.

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

Lady GaGa and Kelly Clarkson and they are pleasures I do not feel guilty for enjoying.

My brother and I used to take the piss out of that John Denver song.

"Sunshine on my pecker makes me horny..." etc.

It's an awesome song.

Can you believe that was pretty casual 80's clothes? Today, you would be categorized immediately if you dressed like that.

It's okay Dan don't feel guilty - you are in the "non-judgemental bosom of KVR" as the OP wrote it. We need more KVR MGP's to join in.

Now, admit your Musical Guilty Pleasure. Don't be shy, we won't judge. :)

I love everything by Aimee Mann - what's wrong with that?!

I'm also a huge John Denver and David Gates/Bread fan.

I'm going to hate myself for writing this and may have to delete it when the Guinness wears off, but I have a few Air Supply albums in the stack as well. :help:

i'm totally going to make the guitar player my role model. i want that haircut, that jogging suit ensemble, and I will henceforth always lean against random pillars while working my whammy bar. he has no idea how cool he is.

see??? i find Aimee Mann immensely listenable, but I live in LA and it seems like everyone you meet has played with her for at least a gig.

Bread is just so, how do I say it? Pussies. that's it. But also really gifted with melody. Melodic pussies.

I do like some Air Supply too. it's the melodic thing.

Here's a question: what types of music do you guys play on your own?
