Why can't they make it more CPU Friendly..
I have a Intel Duo Core 2ghz Laptop, with 2gb ram. And some patches nearly freeze my computer when i was testing the demo..
Waldorf lists the System Requirements as this though.
* Windows XP or better
* Intel Pentium 3, 1 GHz or better
* AMD Athlon, 800 MHz or better
* 64 MB free RAM
* VST 2.4 compatible host software that supports virtual instruments, such as Cubase VST or higher, Cubase SX/SL, Nuendo 1.5 or better
* PC equipped according to the specifications of the VST host software

Besides the new features in the OSCs, the Arp/Sequencer and the browser many of the new presets are really awesome. I really like the new pads since wavescanning synths are perfect for that category.
BTW in the new Ableton Live 8.1.1 beta 5 (installed today...) Largo seems to run quite stable, let's see how long...

Thank you. It also runs perfectly in Reaper 3.16 but GURU won't work in Reaper. Reaper always crashes when i want to insert GURU... Aaaaahhhhh !!!Igro wrote:Glad to hear it works for you now.Ingonator wrote:Besides the new features in the OSCs, the Arp/Sequencer and the browser many of the new presets are really awesome. Bah, I think I'll just get a Virus.DragonSagoth wrote:Great sound always comes with a price. Don't moan. Use it or lose itZergling wrote:Why can't they make it more CPU Friendly..
However, if they did make a Blofeld that had a Virus TI-like Total Integration package.. Id choose the blofeld (AS long as i could use at least 16 instances of it as VSts within my host) over that.

Once again, that's like comparing apples to oranges. Two different synths with very different sound and different purpose.

yes this is really annoying...and to correct it a little, this only appears when largo is receiving midi-data...Igro wrote:Unfortunately one bug still remains:
While project are playing(and even stopped) and GUI open, if you adjust some parameters, like cutoff, you will get high CPU spikes. I even reported it to Waldorf.

try it out.. and when project is stopped maybe you play some notes

Actually that's great. I was under the impression that Largo sounded very thin and alot like "glass".DocT wrote:A few cruel V 1.5 noises quickly patched together:

If you think that Largo sounds thin where did you buy your ears ??v1o wrote:Actually that's great. I was under the impression that Largo sounded very thin and alot like "glass".DocT wrote:A few cruel V 1.5 noises quickly patched together:

Maybe you never tried to program your own sounds with the demo... ?!
If i combine other synths with Largo mostly Largo's sound stands out of the mix. That "glass" sound is probably a result of using the wavetables which combined with the Waldorf filters makes Largo unique compared to other synths.

What about the PPG Wave 2.V plugin ?DragonSagoth wrote:Waldorf didn't release PPG filter in software.
I don't think they will. They must leave some edge to their hardware, as well.

Hm, true that.
But I presume they refreshed the code for the Blo.

I tested in a different ways and found, that CPU loading is GOOD and without any spikes if GUI is closed. All troubles are only with open GUI at the same time as you are adjusting parameters. OR when you see how knobs adjusting automatically if they are being automated.Mescalito wrote:yes this is really annoying...and to correct it a little, this only appears when largo is receiving midi-data...Igro wrote:Unfortunately one bug still remains:
