My test machines during Largo tests:

Q6600 4GB Corsair DDR800 Windows XP 32 Studio One Pro (1GB Graphics Card NVIDIA Sparkle 9500 Fanless)

No problems on this machine...

Q6600 4GB Kingston Hyper X DDR800 Windows Vista 32 Sonar 8pe (512mb ATI Sapphire HD3450)

Multiple problems reported until i figured it was my *e-licencer* but after removing dongle and plugging into another port the problems went away.

Note:

Sonar has a higher Cpu hit than that of Studio One whilst using Largo anyways for me and the difference was and still is very noticable.

Good machine. So i understand even Largo GUI not slow with your configuration?(try to drag GUI over display) My laptop getting old
I will try search in the net how to increase graphic performance with my config.

Maybe this is the problem...I have latest drivers for my Laptop Intel Mobile graphic chip(Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver version 14.32.4)
I was try it on older notebook with 256mb graphic card and same problems here too.. I think Largo + Windows need more than 256mb graphics Ram...
I have mac with 256mb grapics card and there everything run perfectly... strange
But maybe it's due to dongle? Do you have license on dongle or harddrive?

Btw, i have 224 MB graphic memory size.
I have licence on dongle.. is it possible to have it on harddrive ?
Replugging to another USB port does not help...

Hi yes you can have it on the hard drive but only if it's a first time install..you won't be able to do this now if you already did activate the licence to the dongle im afraid.
Also it's better tohave your Largo licence stored on the dongle as if you save the serial *only 1 activation* and your hdd fails then NO Largo :(
I think all this is stated in the first few pages of the pdf manual.

Other than that i can't say no more *NDA* but i can say that i'll continue for the future to program sounds for Waldorf synth both Hardware and Software.

All the best

Hi no problem.. :) I think the DocT would be more qualified to answer most of these issues or go to the Waldorf board User lists :)

From the Manual (pdf) page 11
Activation of Largo
Largo uses a software based copy protection called
eLicenser. Largo can only run with an activated license.
Whether you install Largo on a Mac or Windows
computer you will need to activate the software.
You need to have administrator rights to install and
authorize Largo. If your current user account doesn't have
administrator rights, please quit the installer, log in as
administrator and start the installer again.
1. As the last step of the installation, the License Control
Center is opened.
2. Select Download License from the Wizards menu and
follow the instructions on the screen.
3. Follow the instructions and enter the activation code
that comes with your Largo software.
w You require an internet connection for license
activation.
w Largo is copy-protected by the Soft eLicenser Copy
Protection. You do not need any USB key to
authorize Largo on a particular computer. However,
we strongly recommend to transfer the Largo license
to an eLicenser USB Key
(i.e. from Steinberg or
eLicenser) during or after activation. Please consult
the eLicenser Control Center Online Help how to
perform this optional step.
w If you want to use Largo on different computers or if
you want to remove the soft license form your current
computer or if you need to reinstall your compuetr
system you must transfer the Largo eLicense to an
eLicenser USB Key. Otherwiese your soft license will
gone forever.
w Please note the "Read Me!" and "Important Changes"
text files on the Largo CD-ROM, which contain
additional information and/or any changes.
Cheers

Also opening Largo GUI increasing RAM amount. If before opening GUI was 650 Mb, then after opening it i see 850 Mb. 200 Mb? Two GUI gives me already 350 Mb.....And it's even WITHOUT playing the project. So it's mean, that all those CPU spikes and RAM increases are appearing cos of Largo graphic processes. I believe that there is just weird bug in graphic engine, cos if GUI is closed, then Largo runs smoothly.

Hm... seems like they should make it share as much RAM as they can between instances... it's just commong logic of good programming.

Tried the new 1.5 version...
Generally I liked a lot of the new presets. New features are also cool.
But also there are several weird things/bugs:
1. The demo download link on Waldorf website still leads to version 1.1, I manually replaced 1 with 5 to download latest version
2. The new preset browser is far better than what was before, but it's still strange. For example, the whole big panel on the right — what exactly does it show? Logically, I expected it to display the presets from bank selected on the left, but currently it always displays the same 128 presets. It's not much use this way.
3. The GUI works horribly slow. Sometimes it takes 1-2 seconds for a control to update its position. It's quite frustrating, especially if you want to fine-tune a parameter just a little bit.
4. Modulation matrix is strange. For example, I assign Env3 to Filter 1 Cutoff and change modulation depth. With depth values up to ~40 I hear no effect at all, only with higher depth I get proper control of cutoff by env. Not only that's strange, but also that effectively leavs only ~23 total mod depth levels, which is not precise enough for a lot of things. For example, I tried to make a sync lead and used env3 to modulate osc2 pitch for sync effect. Only at depth ~40 I started hearing somewhat proper sync effect, and just at about 45-46 the starting pitch already got so high that it was barely musical anymore. That leaves only about 6 depth values for "musical" sync effects, and clearly that's not enough.
5. Also, I tried to use the "hardwired" FM destination in the OSC section for sync effect (selecting Env3 as source), but for some reason it actually changed the pitch of the oscillator, even when it was synced to another. Quite strange behaviour.

GUI and mod matrix issues bother me most. They both make Largo very hard to program.

Exactly my thoughts. It's kinda fixed table...or pure bug? Kinda strange, if it fixed.

do you need anything to try the demo version?

You can select a bunch of sounds or a complete bank from the left side and drag and drop it to the right panel. Or you select 10 sounds from one folder on the left side, drop them to sound 1 in the right panel, select another 20 in a different folder and drop these to sound 11, thus assembling you individuak bank in the right panel.
4. Modulation matrix is strange. For example, I assign Env3 to Filter 1 Cutoff and change modulation depth. With depth values up to ~40 I hear no effect at all, only with higher depth I get proper control of cutoff by env. Modulation amounts have a logarhythmic scaling. If you don't like the slope you can use the arithmetic operators to increase or dicrease the gradient. Or use 1 mod slot with an amount around 40 and then another mod slot with same source and destination, that will add to the first, but with the finer resolution of the first part of the logarhythmic scale.
5. Also, I tried to use the "hardwired" FM destination in the OSC section for sync effect (selecting Env3 as source), but for some reason it actually changed the pitch of the oscillator, even when it was synced to another. Quite strange behaviour.
It's that way. Selecting FM for an oscillator disables sync. You have to use the modulation matrix to change the pitch of the slaved oscillator.

Does anyone know if its possible to demo this again if you have already demo'd it previously?
