Really? Synth1 is pretty much the only non-moog synth I really know how to programabstractcats wrote:I think Tattiemannie has synth1 as the next OSC.

The Hubbard you mentioned is the sci-fi writer, right?

He wasn't that talented, from what very little I heard (he was way better as a writer), but maybe I heard the wrong things...

Yes spelling Rob as Ron is bad mistake.
And to everyone who got confused, Rob Hubbard is not Ron L Hubbard.

Kool, thanks for the clarification Xenobioz.Xenobioz wrote:V'ger wrote:Xenobioz wrote:V'gerkHehe, I guess I deserved that misspelling after doing the same with the legendary Hubbard, but thx for the vote anyway.
Somehow the mp3 I downloaded ended up with the k in the end, looking at the 4shared folder it doesn't have one though so I must have done something by mistake. Anyway I was wondering before myself if it really was the right name.

Thanks - I thought it might be him because I knew he made music, too, and he's done - or tried to, at least - 3543426 different things.

Thanks for the comments. I'm a bit of a devils advocate and like to try and make VST's go against their natural strengths.V'ger wrote:Thanks for the vote Mouxbar, and it's funny you should mention chip music in your comment as coming back to music from a longer break I wanted to go back to basic after getting lost and tired of intricate productions and sounds that had no real zest or melody, have been checking out what people could do with the simplest things and equipment like early games etc. I mean check out f.i. , amazing when you think about it. Or one of my favs,
In this OSC we saw quite a lot of mellow tracks, a touch of jazz funk and some FM-ish and chippy noises. I therefore preferred tracks that got a bit more epic and upbeat
I came into the scene about two years ago after a bet in my local pub that I could write a tune. This being off the back of playing the fiddle to an OK level when I was a lad. It kind of stuck anyway
Thanks for the C64 links. To be honest, once you've tackled a fair few of the VST's out there, you'll realise anything is now possible. If only I could just settle for one to work consistently on
Kind regards,
Mouxbar

Man this one was hard ( they all are, but there was some seriously good music throughout this time )... Listened to all the tracks twice through, heavily influenced by white wine and port ( yeah, I mix wine and port
)... still had to get a second opinion from She Who Must Be Obeyed ( I disobeyed! )...

Oh ... need to correct the above re. Synth1.
My suggestion is that we use Synth1 for the March comp to celebrate a year of OSC ... there will be a couple of comps between now and then
I got a PM today from an OSC supporter I've not heard from in a while (Olikana)... with an interesting idea ...
... a free choice OSC! ... One where we create tracks as usual, with one synth, but as individuals, we can choose which 'one synth' we use rather than all use the same one.
I suggest we do this after the march 'anniversary' comp, but if there is great enthusiasm I would be happy to bring it forward and do it as the Feb comp.... I think there are a lot of advantages to trying it out ... and possibly repeating it every few months or so to keep things fresh
