Well, maybe I am turning a few people on to Barfly by doing that. Wouldn't be such a bad thing now would it?jensa wrote:Ha ha. Squids, in return, maybe you shouldn't repeat the same movies in the competitions. Barfly have been around quite a few times now. Just to make it a bit harder for us. Fair!!!!!!!(?)Squids wrote:Yes! Congratulations. But, I have a new rule. From now on if you put a question mark after it you're disqualified. Not this time, I'll give it to you. But I want a confident answer like this: BARFLY! Fair?jensa wrote:Barfly...?
Thanks for the Epointz btw.
But, you're so right... I cycle the same ones over and over because those are the films I've memorized lines from. Those that read a lot of my posts have an advantage! So just because of that I am going to make them harder!!!!

STm is to Porcini as MT is to truffles. NOW it finally all makes sense!!!!autodafe wrote:mmm...truffles...too expensive, sorry, but I am good at spotting and picking Porcini mushrooms, I still have some dried ones from last summer...Squids wrote:I might consider a trade of samples for truffles.
I love porcini by the way. Also chanterelles, morells... I cook with the dried ones but fresh... that'd be a whole different story.
One time I went to this place in Modena (where IK is) that had only about 8 tables. It was off the beaten path. No tourists ever went in there, only locals. The chef served you himself! He was SO excited that an American had come in there and was trying white truffles for the first time that he put so many shavings on my fresh fettucine that I think he LOST money on the meal! But he was thrilled to do it. It was so simple yet absolutely incredible... and a memorable experience.
Going to Denny's on the other hand... much less memorable!

Dave, you should try posting on homerecording.com/bbs sometime
They LOVE to beat on ppl for the sheer enjoyment of it. It's like a bunch of lil' kids who never grew up!
Oh well, forums are wrought with overgrown children who have fragile egos, didn't get enough love as kids and are lookin' to push down anyone who may outshine them. It gets a bit tiring for those of us who genuinely just want to share ideas, challenge and learn from each other and grow. It's bad enough I have to work with a bunch of over-sized egos
Btw, this forum is one of the better ones in terms of intelligence and sincerity

In that case, Toontrack should do something about this. My assumption was that this was Toontrack. I got it from his profile. Not good.Squids wrote:It's not a company, it's just him.

This might be a dumb question (somewhat new to this), but how can the Roland ride cymbals with three distinct trigging zones be used with these samples? Are there distinct subsets of ride articulations (?) that can be mapped to each zone on the ride (edge, bell, main portion of cymbal, etc.)?

Edge (which we call "center" because it is actually played in the center and our edge is more of a "cashing the ride"), bell and crashing the ride are there in V-Drum mode. There is a fourth articulation called "special" which is sometimes another position center hit and in "Custom" mode one could midi learn it to the position of the ride. But none of the kits in this come with multiple ride positions of the center like they do for the snare. That's because rides ring out a long time and to do a wide variety of that can take up almost the size of the whole kit! But we have Danny Gottlieb's Cymbal Library coming that will do that and also EpiK DrumS and Peart do that because they are so much larger and so many more samples. But the ability is there for it. I'd actually like to have that IN the V-Drum mode itself which was on the list to do but there are other things on the list we'd like to do as well which will have to come in a future update. At least that CAN be done now using the CUSTOM map mode.mrhudson wrote:This might be a dumb question (somewhat new to this), but how can the Roland ride cymbals with three distinct trigging zones be used with these samples? Hey! There's no shame in Denny's. I had some of the best conversations of my life in the AM hours over coffee at Denny'sSquids wrote:Going to Denny's on the other hand... much less memorable!(that's a typical late night diner in the US).

When I was young, I spent a number of late nights in a Dennys. Now days, when I finish a gig, I head for home as fast as I can! I don't do late as well as I once did!
BTW, we are now at 457!

Just a note that there is a thread at masosxaudiocom. It's kinda quiet there these days, but I see the 2 people who replied have jumped on board. It doesn't seem to have made it to the official authorised list of threads that get posted here now and then. But... it does exist! And I just bumped it again now.
Actually i also hang out at the The Gear Page, although that's a hardware amp/guitarey sort of page. But there must be people there using DAWs as well. Might go drop one in there...

Good company makes any place good. Actually, I don't mind Denny's and when you need a place late at night it comes through for ya I admit. But generally speaking I MUCH prefer a single restaurant with character to your typical chain restaurants... and the "all you can eat" mentality of overstuffed plates is not my thing. I'd rather have less and it be ultra tasty.blueman wrote:Hey! There's no shame in Denny's. By the time 3am rolls around you don't even notice (or care) that you're not eating real food. It's all about good friends and good conversation at that juncture
Don't be hatin' on the Denny's now Dave. You're outta your element![]()
Anyway, it's all relative. I had a girlfriend from France who LOVED Denny's and thought that the hash browns were exotic!!!! She lived in Bordeaux. You want to hear a crazy story? Listen to this. I met her in 1995 at a concert I was performing and she was too. Then we had a little long distance thing. Fun but expensive phone bill. A couple times she was out all night with her "friend" and I suspected... and of course I was right. I met someone local in LA anyway so I broke up with her - but more or less amicably. Anyway, YEEEEEEARS later I am at Frankfurt Musik Messe and I am talking to this guy who is a great musician and he says he's from Bordeaux. So I say "Oh, do yo know so and so?" (I'll leave out the names to protect the semi-innocent) and he says "Yeah, I used to go out with her" and I said "Really? When?" and he said "Oh this was in 1995!!!!!". It was him! What are the chances?
So add that to my list of bizarre experiences. I think we got to tell her later about it and she was embarrassed. She's married now I think. This guy tours around - played with Jamariquoi and all sorts of other artists like Pink. He uses my samples! First my girlfriend, then my samples... nothing is sacred.
In any case the wine there is unbelievable. So I have her to thank for turning me on to that. But, sure, Denny's is good too.

I've been hovering in and out of this one. Always fun to follow these, and this one could be on track to another high--500 doesn't look out of reach!
Waited until I could do it with Paypal, but I'm in. I already own much of this content, but I figure, 'what the hell?' Squids has never steered me wrong, I'm sure the added content will be well worth it.
Frankly, I'm really looking forward to hearing the hybrid kits.
BTW, points to the always confident MOUNTAINKING for being there early and often.
Hope everyone had some great holiday fun. Happy New Year!

Well, you're assuming it was just ONE guy. If she REALLY got around, the chances would be much better...Squids wrote: So I say "Oh, do yo know so and so?" and he says "Yeah, I used to go out with her" and I said "Really? When?" and he said "Oh this was in 1995!!!!!". It was him!
