I know this is a random question but is it possible to get a good reggae sounding kit out of these? I work with a lot of hip-hop/RnB and am getting into Reggae now. I am looking for more real live sounding drums. I was wondering if this might be helpful. It seems like a great deal. The snare seems to be the most characteristic that I am looking for. An example is here:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Easy as pie.

That is one of the main concepts here! Easily created custom kits. :-)

I don't think it would be hard to get a very similar sounding snare from one of the kits in this collection, based on the YouTube link that you posted.

But getting a tight-ass gated snare that sounds like Style Scott or Sly Dunbar from the 1970s or early 1980s is probably unlikely. I have hundreds of virtual drum kits and still haven't found anything that comes close to that roots reggae snare.

What is the scope of the midi grooves this bundle has? I have EZ Drummer and am in need of more pre programmed patterns not just better samples. Is this something that will provide a large selection of midi grooves?

The GB ends at midnight on the 30th. The main sound set will start to be available to 100 people at a time (not necessarily in the order joined but somewhat random picked from our system). This will be dispersed over the 31st and only longer if the server is overloaded. Patience please. This is big!

The extras will be delivered the following week on Monday or Tuesday although some extras will be in your user area before like the 150 Odd Grooves for example.

As for 600... if you can break it in a day and half there will be even MORE on top. Good luck. I will reveal what it will be if we get at least half way there.
Does this mean all 500 users will have access by the 31st?
That is the intention for the main sounds, so keep your fingers crossed.
It may be too many people on the server at once. So we'll either spread it out over a couple of days OR if people do that themselves then it should be ok. Either way it's not going anywhere. It'll be in your account but... it IS a LOT of stuff so please be UBER patient with this. Remember it is a lot faster and cheaper than shipping.
I'm willing to download really late at night. I hate to be a pain, but the reason I'm a little impatient is because I go back to work next week! :(

I was hoping to play with this for awhile!

well ezplayer pro comes with 1000 grooves i believe, and its very flexible with its kit part arranging capability, that itself greatly expands your library .lets say you like the ride pattern from groove 14 but the kick from pattern 13 you can arrange them together and make a new beat without having to midi edit in your host. Squidz is including squidi midi beats not sure how many and 150 oddgroove beats.
Nobody's a nobody...

That is the same reason why I was a little impatient too I start working on the 4th and hoped to try out the stuff before returning back to the real drab world. :(

Well... your "really late at night" is someone else's daytime. But if you are in North America, late at night here is usually the time when the eSoundz servers are the least busy.

Yes blueman, that gets us close. I have his drummerpacks and have used them. But there is something not quite right in the sound of the snare in those recordings, and the Sly MIDI kits that come with it have no velocity variations or Round Robins, so they sound completely phoney. I have a Stylee Scott set of REX grooves that are even better, as far as audio loops are concerned.

But I sure wish Squids would provide us with a detailed IP kit which would give us that roots reggae snare sound, and of course the low-tuned toms and a Carlton Barrett timbale!

Well, we (OddGrooves) provide 150 bonus grooves in this GB - although they are played live not programmed. And we will also offer a REALLY generous upgrade discount to our full set of over 7000 grooves, exclusive to GB participants.

Our niche or "flavour" is advanced grooves in many different time signatures.

More info on this soon.

Cheers,
Per

Well that is good news. I would much prefer to use grooves that have the feel of being played live. Realism is of utmost importance to me.

I'm eager to hear more about this. :-)

I think Squids could find this. Heck, he may already have it in the vault!

But in the meantime, check the OWD kit 4 dry. No Timbale, but it might be something you could work with. Check the demo. Maybe... maybe not.

BTW, we're at 530 now! :D
