Best Guitar Software for Pop-Punk Sound (ie, Palm Mutes, Distorted leads, etc)

Hey,
I am a Guitar Rig 2 and 3 user and recently have been conteplating picking up an amp and using its emualted line out feature for my pop-punk type tracks. But recently, I found out that Guitar Rig is horrible for common pop-punk type sounds (big crunchy palm mutes, distorted leads, etc) so I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for software amp emulators that are good for this type of sound..if possible I am not looking for the harsh metal sounds, but more of a full flat-eq distortion sound if that makes sense...right now with guitar rig it seems this sound is impossible to get. THanks for any help you can provide.

It's hard to get that out of a mainstream plugin.
I made a heavy metal plugin, probably the best chance of any palm muting. http://www.mediafire.com/file/xnhnjnozj ... eenYAM.rar
Most freebies won't do it because they're just high gain overdrives.

Guitar Rig could work well for those types of sound - maybe you're just not hitting on the right amps, cabs and distortions.
I know you probably don't want to hear it, but if you're looking to get this right you probably need to learn to play guitar or find a guitarist. I can't imagine how much work must go into going all of this without a guitar and getting the same results. With a guitar it's quick and easy.

Robojam: Sorry, I realized by the way I phrased the question it is confusing...I can play guitar and I am looking for amp modeling software(not guitar vst instrument software). I can do palm mutes in Guitar Rig, but they do not sound that large or chunky if that makes sense...The best example of what I am looking for is Paramore's Misery Business(the palm mute in the verses)...Getting a sound like this currently seems impossible to me out of guitar rig? Maybe you have or somebody has some suggestions on this though? Thanks.

I just duplicated a similar distortion sound of Misery Business with Guitar Rig 4 using the gratifier and stomp compressor. Not sure what your problem is...user8324 wrote:Robojam: Sorry, I realized by the way I phrased the question it is confusing...I can play guitar and I am looking for amp modeling software(not guitar vst instrument software). I know that Guitar Rig can get very close to just about anything if you tweak it enough, so I'm sure it can be done.generalstargazer wrote:I just duplicated a similar distortion sound of Misery Business with Guitar Rig 4 using the gratifier and stomp compressor. Not sure what your problem is...

Watch this tutorial on virtual multiple virtual mic blending using IRs:
Buy these IRs for $14.99: http://recabi.net
Apply what you've learned using Guitar Rig and the Recabinet IRs.
Go forth and rock.
EDIT: Not sure if you can load IRs into Guitar Rig. If you need an IR loader I recommend either keFIR or LeCab:

This goes to show you've never really used one or you'd have a greater appreciation for them. Unique...yes. Suitable for everything? Certainly not. Need for criticism? No. Keep it up RBR!futurefields wrote:lol... your plugins are the ugliest i've ever seenRunBeerRun wrote:It's hard to get that out of a mainstream plugin.
