I'm on a Mac too.

Our main studio doesn't have enough sound proofing at the moment, so we are forced to use mostly software. Although we probably need some sound proofing for Amplitube too. :)

OK, thanks! Even though we are still waiting for a permanent fix, just getting a reply from you guys is a million times better that just shouting into a black hole (like it is with some certain companies...). Hope you get the nasty bug fixed before my monitors (or ears) terminate their contracts for good.

Sorry for bumping on old-ish topic, but I just discovered something interesting related to the issue: system volume setting does not seem affect the volume of the horrible noise.

Of course I had to find this out by working late at night on my Macbook, headphones plugged directly into the laptop. I was mixing a song, and after getting the noise in my ears a couple of times (and totally freaking out), I lowered volume to the absolute minimum (the next step up from mute). Imagine my surprise when the song is just barely audible, and suddenly I get the full 10000dB ear-shattering noise attack. Arrrrrrrrgh.

I guess the only way this is possible is that Amplitube manages to screw the audio processing at a very deep level, since normally system volume is the last stage in the audio chain. I can't imagine how this is even possible.

Now I'm afraid to put the headphones back on. PLEASE fix this.

This is absolutely insane. And this is the first I've seen of this. Is, "amplitude live," affected? Are they all affected, or just certain types of, "amplitudes?"

And you mean to tell me, that even if you use a brickwall on your master, the noise will reach beyond that?

I have used only Amplitube 2, so I don't know about the others. It indeed seems that at least using a limiter in your DAW's master bus doesn't help... Amplitube finds a way around it. :)

Beware, it's LOUD even in this cell video. Amplitube had been doing that a couple of times during the same session, so I was expecting it to do it again, but you can still see me shaking a little when it happens...
Wow..... that sucks

I have never heard it on my system.... knock on wood.

but I am a PC

Hmm... I will get some people reminded or aware if they are not already of this thread.

Edit - it looks like X-Gear 1.5.1 will fix this problem according to Support.

Thanks.

True, just noticed it myself in the release notes. I have never used X-Gear, and since I only have and use Amplitube 2, I guess X-Gear would just add an unnecessary extra layer (if I understood its functionality correctly). I'll try it, but of course it would be great to have the same fix in Amplitube too...

EDIT: Actually I have Ampgeg SVX too, and combining everything under a single application/plugin is a great idea. Changing all AT2 instances in the projects I'm currently working on to X-Gear is a major task, but at least in all future projects I'll use only X-Gear. Let's just hope the noise bug is indeed fixed. :)

Whatever, I've got to download x gear, and use it. Even though I have never experienced this bug, I'd hope not to experience it, and IMHO, it sounds frightening. A horrible bug, imo.

+ 1 to captain, a fix in amplitube would be great, but also, a must..

Thanks then

Sigh... I started changing AT2 & SVX instances in open projects into X-Gears, and of course I immediately ran into problems. In a nutshell: X-Gear does not sound the same as the individual plug-ins with the same settings (which it should, unless I'm missing something really obvious here). And I don't mean any hifi-crap ("yeah I think this one sounds a little more open..."), I mean very clear differences.

I first saved a preset from AT2/SVX, and loaded it into X-Gear. So far so good - but for some reason, the output level of X-Gear was a couple of dB's lower than AT2/SVX. I then manually turned all the knobs into same positions from scratch - same thing. Then I went thru some factory presets, and while some of them seem to sound the same in both plugins, there are some clear differences too. For example, try AT2's Styles -> Heavy Metal -> Solo 1. The delay level (compared to the dry signal) is much louder in X-Gear, even though the delay parameters are the same. In fact, I have to turn AT2's delay mix to something like 25% to make it match the the 10% in X-Gear.

What is this? If I'm going to start using X-Gear instead of the individual plugins, I really need it to sound _exactly_ the same as them.

All. I used to use the Total Guitar & Bass Bundle, and it doesn't matter which one I used.... CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAASHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

They should be, as I already handed this thing in somewhere in June or earlier. Hell, the demo I made dates back to July.

Let's hope 1.5.1 gets rid of this. It's too late for me though.

i got the loud noisy problem as well (amplitube2, macbook pro with mac osx 10.5.8, ableton live 8). but i noticed it only occurs in certain presets. can anybody confirm the high resolution workaround?

If there are still unresolved issues, please log a support ticket or send me your support ticket number if it has not been answered/resolved.

Thanks!

I'm resurrecting this old thread to ask if the noise spike problem has been fixed in Amplitube 3. I would like to upgrade my copy of A2, but I absolutely won't do it unless this problem has been definitively fixed (and I'm not referring to the "turn off high resolution" work-around. I mean a real fix of the bug in the software).

Thanks,

John

Tech support can tell you or better yet install the demo and try it. Works unfettered for 10 days. Thanks!

Try it and see if it works? How about "yes we fixed that 2 year old bug" would be a more suitable response from a company rep.
