Well, we (OddGrooves) provide 150 bonus grooves in this GB - although they are played live not programmed. And we will also offer a REALLY generous upgrade discount to our full set of over 7000 grooves, exclusive to GB participants.

Our niche or "flavour" is advanced grooves in many different time signatures.

More info on this soon.

Cheers,

Having used the 4/4 stuff from these guys over the last few days (it's not all oddgrooves)I can say that they are excellent. They groove along just fine and are quite flavourful, you won't be dissapointed.

I keep seeing the "STm" acronym being thrown around, but I don't actually see a definition for it anywhere. Can someone help a brother out and tell me what that means?

The Infinite Player is a Kontakt player. It is all you need to play these kits. You do not need the full version of Kontakt.

Squids started using STm to describe these kits. STm = Stereo Multitrack. You can process each kit piece separately, but it doesn't have as many adjustments as the Multitrack kits.

Pardon my ignorance, but this thread is 116 pages long and I have another stupid question: why would you want EZ Player for this library? I see that it is a bonus if the sales get high enough.

Really sorry to butt in with dumb questions; just wanted to make sure I can use this. Thanks.
You need the free Konakt Player, that's what plays the sounds. I think it comes with the group buy but you can download it free from NI anytime. If you owned Kontakt (full version), you could load it in there to and mess about with stuff. Infinite player is like a 'key' that allows these sounds to be played in Kontakt player, it authorises them (plus other sounds that esoundz produce). Otherwise you could just copy the samples and give them away to someone else who could use the with the free Kontakt player

EZ player will allow you to use midi drum groove to drive this library. I think it converts from other popular drum library formats too. So if you have midi grooves for some other library, it will enable those grooves to play the drums in the right keyboard mappings for this one.

someone will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure

I think it is short for Stereo/quasi-Multitrack, which is to say that the kit pieces are mixed down in stereo but are still separate from each other so that they can have individual volume and panning applied to them. This would be different from the true Multitrack versions of these kits where you would actually have control over the room and OH mics, etc., to further customize the sound of the drum kit.

Although I hope he's not serious... not sure what the rules are over at GS. They've been pretty cool about it all this time at least. I really like that forum too. I've learned a lot there about gear.
Just for your info Squids it seems the GS crew are trying to stop sales/GB's and a lot of members aren't too happy about it.

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-prod ... -here.html <<<<< a thread about whats going on which you or others from both forums might even want to have a comment in

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/4905229-post104.html <<<< a single post from that thread from the owner of the board that makes things pretty clear.

I am a GS fiend and newly to kvr initially to follow your group buy. Anyways just thought I'd point you to the info in case its of use to you.

I was looking up Ocean Way Drums online to see if I could hear some audio demos of this dry Kit 11, and I realized that there are audio demos for all the Ocean Way Drums on www.DownloadableSoundz.com. Wow. I didn't know they were all up.

I went through all the kits, and I have to say that whoever picked the Ocean Way Drums for this group buy (which I assume is the Squidster) really did pick out most of the best drums in that collection. Bravo! We are getting the very finest of the Ocean Way Drums here. Good work!!

Aside from the Kit 11, which I really hope we can get, I do wish it were possible to also get Kit 6 Dry. Isn't there any way for you to get that snare added to our collection, Squids? Just the snare? Man I would love that. We are getting the Kit 6 Medium, but that Kit 6 Dry would be really useful as well. It is the most appealing OWD snare to my ears (and the closest to the roots reggae snare sound we were discussing earlier).

You folks can check it out for yourself here:

KIT 6

KIT 11
http://www.downloadablesoundz.com/detai ... uctID=2651

Links on the right hand side of the page will allow you to navigate to the other Ocean Way Drum kits.

I also like Kit 5 Dry and Kit 12 Medium.

As for Kit 11, it is a toss up for me between the dry and the medium. I like them both, but probably the dry will be more versatile.

okay, now i am really confused. i remember reading on KVR that anything you load into Kontact that you didn't buy from NI times out after 30 minutes (something about demo mode). I was under the assumption that the infinite player would just show up in my DAW as an instrument. from the OWD pdf at esoundz:

1. Download the Ocean Way Expandable Player [Plug-in only] from your download
area and then un-zip it on your computer's desktop. Its contents will include:

- "Ocean Way Expandable Set Up" which is for installing the Kontakt Player software
that is used as the engine for Ocean Way Drums.
- "OWD Expandable Library Installer" which is the application that installs the sounds.
- User Manual and other documents.

never heard of the Ocean Way Expandable player before, not mentioned anywhere else.

there is something else in this PDF that says do not open the zip files for the kits until you have them all ( in order to facilitate correct installation). here's a link to the PDF:

Here's how it works:

These sounds are all in Kontakt format so they'll play in Kontakt or Kontakt Player FREE (as long as you install and activate the Infinite Player which is Sonic Reality's expandable library module inside Kontakt).

So, when we say "Infinite Player powered by Kontakt" that is how NI wants third party sound companies that license the Kontakt Player to say it. We normally BUNDLE Kontakt Player with the product but now NI gives that part away for free (thanks NI... adds to the confusion really but it IS nice that you can get it).

The key thing here is that Infinite Player isn't a different player. It works INSIDE Kontakt or Kontakt Player FREE. It "unlocks" the copy protected sounds of this Group Buy (and other Infinite player format sounds from Sonic Reality) so they'll be able to be played in Kontakt or Kontakt Player.

Does that make sense? I agree it is a little confusing but this is the system we have from NI to work with and have to explain it when someone understandably doesn't understand. ;)

The GOOD news though is that this is BOTH a virtual instrument (via the bundled Kontakt Player/Infinite Player unlock key) AND a library for Kontakt if you already have the full version.

In any case, ANYONE can use this. You don't need to BUY a sampler like Kontakt to use this. It works with Kontakt Player which we'll give you OR you can even just get that for free from NI... but you DO need to activate the included Infinite Player.

NOTE: For those that already own the Infinite Player you will be able to choose a Ludwig Jazz Stm kit instead. But for those that DON'T own the Infinite Player you MUST choose it in order to be able to use these sounds - even if you have Kontakt Player or full Kontakt.

Post

Please consider to sell Ocean Way Drums separate Kits, working on the Kontakt 4 or 3, without the need to buy your Player.
