Hehe, no not in sweden. I think they have snow storms now in south Sweden too. ATM I live in Cambodia, but haven't changed location in my profile.

So for a stereo synth it would not be enough just to have stereo out I assume.
You would have to make the signal somehow different on each channel, unless there already isn't some effect like a reverb or chorus in the plug-in.

Hey, thanks for the song! :)

Thanks for the votes! There are indeed some super songs in this comp... 8)
Can you play Far Far Away?
Yes - how far would you like?

Hi folks, here I am again .... the older I get, the longer it takes to recover from punk gigs

No V'ger, I dont play keys ... although I did once play ( bad ) keys for a band. Mostly I play bouzouki, but last night I was with my punk band of 30 years ... 'Toxik Ephex'.... So I was on my 30 year old Antoria Les Paul ... with my new axon100Mk2 guitar synth on board :)
Here's a clip from the same gig last year ... I'm to the left of the big guy :)

Yeah Rogue is a bit eccentric alright, it is monophonic ... so even doing those chords is gonna be a challenge :) .. The absence of a Vol adsr is a bit quirky, ... but I'm sure there are ways of overcoming this ... right now though, I just need to know it works for everyone .... things like 'thinness' can be addressed via the permitted FX.
I do have an alternative synth suggestion, but gonna keep it quiet as long as there are no debilitating issues with 'Rogue'

... And cheers for the votes :) ... keep 'em coming ... I'll count them up a bit later. :)

Ouch! I'd say you should keep at it...remember what happen to half the Ramones after they retired?? :(

Oh! I do like the song you kids do in the video, reminds me of punk reggae, Nice!

tattiemannie, that tune takes me right back! ... to around 1980... by the time punk had gotten fairly big out west (seattle)... it was totally new to us at the time. We were collecting albums by bands like the Buzzcocks, Sham 69, and my favorite... the Damned... which leads me to ask... do you get any sense that the drummer in your band plays like Rat Scabies? Whatever the case of that, the beats are really happening here... probably the only thing missing is a balanced mix. The bass and drums are very clear in this video. The rest is kind of in the background.

It warms my heart that there is yet a thriving venue for this sort of music... in the meantime, Seattle has become extremely uptight (moreso than before).... it's very tough to play any live music in Seattle, let alone punk... but these are just impressions... they could be mistaken (i could be making excuses for my own lack of gigging)... what is for certain though is that the local music venues have been heavily regulated by the politicians over the years...

Oh... i do 'have' this niece... she's 'the Emmylou Harris of Ballard' (ballard being a seattle neighborhood). She gigs and everything... has a debut album out... is on some 'top 50 of the year' album lists... it's country music... i'm proud of her because of (among other things) her willingness to gig over the years...

anyway... that's just stream of consciousness... it's great to hear/see your band... hope your lady is recovering from the ankle thing ok...

happy new years everyone!

Post

Well, the lady of the house is still hobbling, but that hasn't stopped her heading out with her mandolin ( actually, my mandolin! ) ... to a folk session :)

mrblitz, re. the balance on the vid ... I dont know who did the film, but it was recorded on either a mobile phone or a hand help camera .... and from directly in front of the bass end of the PA ... the hi range stuff is way above head height, so no surprise re the bass and drums being stronger ... very surprising tho that the overall quality is as good as it is considering :) .... i'll pass your comments on to our drummer ... he'll be over the moon to be compared to Rat Scabies :)

Buster was there last night as well, but he decided to hide up at the back for fear of being dragged up on stage again :hihi: ... he's a damned nice bloke by the way!

She gigs and everything... has a debut album out... is on some 'top 50 of the year' album lists...
.... hey, thats an incredible achievement!! All the best of luck to her! :)
Ouch! I'd say you should keep at it...remember what happen to half the Ramones after they retired??
.... Eek! I'll bear that in mind! :help:

Anyway, where were we?? ... oh yeah, I'll go do a count up!

Rogue is a bit strange but works OK for me. Thankfully the CPU usage is pretty low so I can run a heap of instances but I can still see a bit of bouncing coming on!

Not a great deal of movement in terms of positions, Flex'n'morph still hanging onto that top spot, and retaining a comfortable lead.
theres a real battle for second though, only 5 points seperating 2nd and 5th, and that group joined in spectacular fashion by Flexible Friends leaping from the sleeping, to 4th!

... just goes to show, anything can happen ... and its still early days :)
... come on folks, get those votes in!

Thanks to everyone also for the comments they have submitted in addition to votes .... I think in some ways, it makes the comp more rewarding for the competitors than the actual votes ... altough some may disagree :hihi:

Post

Rathead ... cheers for the comments re. Rogue ... and cheers to everyone else who has posted comments/info. Keep them coming tho, i hope to launch the comp around th 4th of Jan, so please post if there are issues which make it unusable for you, or even difficulties in a particular host. :)

Now I'm even more curious.. Folk music then? Although I remember it doing an with a disco number. Quite like the sound of that instrument though.

And thx for the video, cool to see you giggin' and also to put a face to the name. Who in audience would ever think that punk (is it really punk?) guitarist is making synthesizers eh? :P
Yeah Rogue is a bit eccentric alright, it is monophonic
Not only monophonic, but mono out as well.
I do have an alternative synth suggestion
It wouldn't happen to be ConcretFX' Ensembler would it? Or maybe ZynAddSubFX?

Hi V'ger ... been a long day, and a big one tomorrow, so I'll keep it brief :)
Folk music then?
http://www.ironbroo.co.uk

but mono out as well.
... so is Flex-n-stein4 :)
It wouldn't happen to be ConcretFX' Ensembler would it? Or maybe ZynAddSubFX?
..... No, but i'll check out those suggestions for future comps for sure! :)

.. Anyway, got a PA to set up tomorrow lunchtime, then set up for ceilidh, and then play for about 5 hours ... so I'll take the opp now to wish you all the best for the new year ... Cheers for the good wishes expressed for my partner's well being after her fall .... I've passed these on, and she is very appreciative :) .... have a good one, catch you all in 2010! :)

Post

Happy new year everybody :) ... just back from gigging into the new year, and possibly the most sober guy in Scotland :hihi: ... soon sort that out!!

Post

jeez its late but, i'm tempted to fire up 'Rogue' and see if I can convey the essence of whisky in musical form! :hihi:
