To tell the truth some of the reads on this thread were not only entertaining but more informative than what's been in EQ, EM, Mix and even Tape Op (other than their incredible interviews) so strike that one. You're not allowed to think in a corporation, you only can do what is written in the employee handbook otherwise,... it's hit the road jack! 
I remember as an adjunct I was teaching an audio course for the media majors. Since it was a required course for some reason the students always blew it off until they were seniors. I would teach the Spring semester and students would always reinvent ways (shortcuts) to do the projects I gave them. When I explained that they didn't follows the procedures, it was always "I thought..." Well my diatribe sets in motion I would tell them ..."all of your life you were always taught to think for yourself and now that you are seniors, in a few months you're going to graduate and get a job. You will be given a project and the first thing you need to do is to unlearn everything you were taught and just DO...." otherwise you'll be on the outside looking in!Something wonderful is about to happen!
