What I personally like about the control room in GR4 is the straightforward, authentic quality of the individual mics, not necessarily the multitude of options (though they don't hurt).
I could just as well get by with 2 or 3 sensibly chosen mics, which it seems IK is doing right now.

Sorry, I used the wrong link in my post - Thanks! Hope you enjoy them.

More audio examples keep getting released. Any thoughts? I think there's indication of a bit more than a basic upgrade to something, and we've still got some good things up our sleeve. Do the examples change any guesses about the product (or any of the gear)?

Post

My new guess: Amplitube 3. It's the same as my old guess.

Things are sounding pretty good from what I've heard. Though I'd still like to hear a nice Beatles-ey or Queen-sy type AC30 tone (no effects on that one please).

Post

I like the reverse sounding one.

I can never tell what I like/don't like until I've got it in my grubby hands.

Still ten days to go ...
Interesting clips, though I can't comment on all the experimental stuff.
Personally I'm more into pure amp/cab tone with the occasional pedal added ...
That hard rock clip sounds pretty good to me though, and the flanged stuff isn't half bad either. :tu:
They might confirm the Electric Mistress (not Deluxe !) theory for pic 15, not 100% sure ...
Anybody owning a real one ?
And what the new package might be called - I still think AT3, not aware of any artist (who would have to have a pretty high profile probably) who would fit - but then I'm not really familiar with current styles.
And I'm pretty sure ATH is not exclusively used for doing Purple Haze covers ...
Cheers,
susiwong

BTW, slightly OT, could somebody please explain that Facebook concept to me ?
Feels a bit like the solution to a problem nobody has ever had ...
Give me a clean Javascript page any day, a straight player/download link page for the sound clips ...
Oh well, ymmv.
OT over

Well, the very creative effects (note the "more creative power" tag that's showing on the audio clips) doesn't necessarily indicate Electric Mistress but I'm not sure that's what you are meaning :) Wouldn't that be a great pedal to have? Already got the Big Muff Pi USA version and they DO look similar. I don't have a real one, but I've played through one and always wanted one. This may solve that problem, I suppose. Most of us have heard a lot of it on Pink Floyd tunes, Shine On You Crazy Diamond should have a good bit of it on rhythm parts for example. You can catch a lot of specifics on gilmourish.com too.

ATH surely isn't just for Jimi covers, but the preset hierarchy there is a good bit discography-based so there's always that option for "signature" sounds. Some of the others followed that too - maybe we've learned to blend the two. Maybe not, of course, since I can't say.

I love that hard rock clip a lot too, any guesses as to which amp that might be? Does it sound like any pedals are being used?

Hi Peter,
Impossible to tell for me, partially due to the many FX (which sound good, no doubt) - there are many ways to skin a cat. I probably could get in that ballpark with a Rectifier most easily, though a Marshall + OD pedal and EQ can do these tones just fine imho. Not even talking about layering, I hear at least two guitars ...
The only thing I'm pretty sure about is the use of "rack FX", i.e. post amp, for delay/reverb, stomps would make the sound too muddy in that scenario.

Re the EH pedal, call me dumb, but I'm still not sure about the state of things here. You once said that mystery pedal won't leave your personal pedal board, so that would hint it's not the Mistress you're talking about ?
Please consider clarifying if you still need that thing (or anything else) to be identified, not asking for open hints (though I might take them, too  ), just for some kind of to-do-list if you can.
I'll update the pics list tonight, though I haven't seen any new stuff in the latest pics.
It's still great fun, and the product will be very nice whatever it will be called in the end.
So I'll keep on investigating for sure until every thing is cleared up as well as possible, I'm certain the same holds true for our other colleagues. :)
Cheers,
susiwong

You made me go back so far! :D I only have one of the two guesses made for that pedal on my board is what I found as far as that goes. I do have one, I think I've stated it somewhere, or at least what I'm a big fan of as far as types of pedals so it hopefully will take you down the right path. You could just submit both as guesses for that one since I'm just confusing you guys anyway.

As far as a to-do list, I'll take a tally of the list(s) posted for sure and see what's what. I have to make sure that Acoustic amp is identified since I can't remember what you guys settled on, for example. Good to go on the Silvertone, that was great fun. I've still got the bug for a real one now too. Grrrr

Thanks, I'll double check !
And whenever you're in need of some politically incorrect gear inspiration, count on me. :D
OT, but since it's still holiday season over here I'm meeting up with lots of nice colleagues currently, of course nobody would mention gear, no, not us !
Saturday we had a nice blues jam with 6 or 7 guitar players and gear freaks, one guy had outstanding tone with an old Acoustic 164, never would have associated that tone with the 164.
Tomorrow I'll visit a friend to check out his TwoRock and DrZ amps, might take my Blue Angel and a few pedals with me, who knows what stupid ideas we will come up with. He's a complete nerd, too, and a few tubes or a soldering iron are always at hand.
Completely sucks to be a guitar player. :hihi:

Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Anybody out there that uses most/all of this gear? I know that the guy who contributed to GrooveMaker Rock Ace uses a bunch of the same things we've got modeled or in these pics... http://www.guitargeek.com/rigview/336/

Just another path to ponder :)
Not a fan myself but i have seen a portion of Dave Grohl's gear and f**king hell their is a shed load of the stuff and IIRC it was only what he had "chucked together" for the album they (Foo Fighters) were recording at the time.

Then lets not forget Billy Gibbons > is there anything that dude ain't toyed with? :-o

http://www.guitarworld.com/charmschool > Can you model these for me please @ IK I would definately pay good dirty money for the dark haired one

Also the cringe worthy metallica documentary "Some kind of monster" i remember seeing hetfield the uber-asshole playing through what he said was his first ever amplifier and it looked alot like that silvertone pick that susiwong posted. They have been through quite some gear in their time: what you see on stage is a bloody tip of an iceberg big enough to sink the titanic...whether that is mainly that crap producer Bob Rock's stuff mainly or actually the band's well i don't know. But i do know that there is an awful lot of stuff if you youtube the rockumentry :)here is one track and many amps n stuff:

Dean/Nekro

Check that shit out > loads of amps! if only i could get into that room (i'd fuckin rinse it and make off with as many SLP's as possible!!!)

Kirk with a tele? On stage never! studio = different story. Same with James gretsch white falcon in the studio - never on stage from what i've seen.

Its a shame they are so junk these days with all that nice gear they should know better...but maybe thats their own worst enemy  best 'tallica show i seen was when Ulrich was blasted on nose candy and couldn't play so they had Dave Lombardo for the 80's stuff and Joey Jordinson for the black/self-titled album stuff - onwards and also their drumtech flemming rasmunsen *or something like that* played on one tune. Sounded like a band with a good drummer to me :hihi: \m/

But the top-boost circuit is an effect!

as say some people/*purist losers imho* ;)

Hey Peter,

I've been at work all day and didn't get a chance to listen to any new examples that may have been posted, but if there hasn't been any bass examples yet, I'd love to hear some. Particularly something nice and Zeppelin-esque using the Acoustic.

Post

A pretty cool twin marshally clip added, bone dry this time.
And another hippie style beautiful wash of sound - nice, although I wouldn't want to have this in my car radio during a police control.
