Squids wrote:Yeah the place called Califa is such a little thing that could easily be missed but they make steak tacos right there in front of you with the steak marinated in something all night (if anyone knows... will trade epointz for recipesjk) and they even make the torilla right there in front of you too so it just melts in your mouth. They don't have the pastor meat on a stick thing there though. That was across the street. Ever eat at Rincon Argentino? That place is amazing for a combo of Argentenian and Mexican. I don't know if I will have time to try your quesadilla place. But I'll come back another time... gotta see those pyramids. One day maybe I will do a tour of just stuff like that. Also you can't underestimate the sound of pyramid convolution impulse ambience on a drum kit. It's "other worldly".

Since I am in a good mood I'll give all three of you the 5 epointz just for playing my game.Listening to Bjork now. "Modern Things". What a quirky cool song. Those lyrics are so bizarre. Modern things waiting inside a mountain while dinosaurs amd people were dabbling outside all those years? I want some of what she's having.
WOW !
15 epointz in 12 hours !! YESSSSSS !
Thanks to Squids, Mr. Woody Allen, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and THE SUPER Keith Moon.

Now some Doves. "Almost Forgot Myself". Some Cities. Great album. Check it out.
Also those Van Morisson albums are great. Astral Weeks is tops as is the Moondance album. I like the rawness of those. I have two musical projects I am working this coming year. One is full progressive rock with electronic incluences (the one with Simon Collins that is more of a band thing now... like Genesis! Sort of... more alt rock and electronica infused but I slip in the Tony chords and Mellotron when I get away with it) and then some of my own songs with me singing and everything (look out) and that's totally raw ironically. Well not completely. More like the folksy side of Pink Floyd, CSNY, S&G, Van, Led Zep and even a pinch of Nick Drake. Aha! Anyone know him? Pink Moon. Great song.
Okay back to this never ending thing I was doing. I have a refreshed team working with me today so we're looking good for some time this afternoon so far. I will keep you posted. I did a bunch of extra things in this that were for your convenience. One of them was saving back separate GM, IMAP and VDRUM kits ready to go (and EVERY kit piece... that is one of the things taking me so long). Really you can more or less just key switch and cycle through each map and just load ONE. But... you do have to reset the toms which are different for each format (iMap can be 3-6, GM is always 6 - even if some are loaded twice and tuned to make that happen - and then V-Drums are always 4 by default). It will make sense when you have it. Sorry to make you wait longer to do that but I really think it will make life easier if you are one of three categories of players:
1. Finger Dummer/Adventurer/Explorer
2. Standard GM user with boat loads of midi you want to use on kits that round robin and make your midi files sound great.
3. An e-Drummer with anything from something basic all the way up to V-Drums TD20. A good idea is to set your controller to match the midi triggers of this mode. There ARE ways to customize the plug-in to you with midi learn but as we were discussing earlier really the better way is to use this advanced V-Drum map mode and make your controller comply with it. But we'll show you how to do both. If you're a newbie some extra patience is required but you can also just use the 2. GM mode which most hardware is prepared to control (the biggest standard in midi controlling there is).
I know only some of you even know what I am talking about right now but this is worth it. I'm almost done uploading these zillions of extra NKIs... I might eat breakfast though. Even Squids need to eat.

Whilst waiting (patiently) for the GB stuff to become available, I spent the time to try out the ocean way drums demo using the Ocean Way Expandable player (I know we get infinite player instead, but with both based on Kontakt, it seemed a good idea).
I am using a yamaha DTXplorer kit, which has its own note output configuration. I don't really understand midi very well (I'm a guitarist usually), and it took me ages to work out how to remap the drums to the right notes.
After trying a number of different things, I found the best solution was using the IX-Keymap JS (I'm using Reaper). For any Reaper users out there, it is worth noting there is a new version (Keymap II) which is not included in the standard Reaper install (needs to be downloaded separately). This utility made the remapping fairly quick (my problem was trying so many other options first).
The good news is, I now have my strategies for configuring my drums ready for when the GB becomes available.
Thanks to Squids for all his efforts so far. I've been watching this thread for the past few days, in a different timezone (its 2:41am on 3 Janaury at the moment) and have been totally amazed at the small periods of time between Squids' posts...you must be champion of the power-nap.
After playing with the Ocean Way trial, I'm sure, for us all, it is all going to be worth the wait (they do sound awesome...particularly to me, having only had the built in brain sounds or free VSTi kits before).
And Squids will no doubt deserve a proper holiday (if you can find some staff good enough, you can leave it in capable hands for a bit).
Cheers all.

Blueman, I guess you share the difficulties involved in carving out some time for music making. Other commitments and draws on your time mean that a missed delivery deadline kind of amplifies the angst. I also had a bad experience with an EH POG2 pedal over the same period and that is now on 6 weeks back order, so the planned music making fest has not gone well so far.

hey Squids, any word on if you guys are going to do the DVD release of this? As much as I am dying to get my hands on this, I would definitely wait a few extra days (and spend a couple of extra bucks) to spare myself the frustration of an endless download.
also: any ideas on what set would be most appropriate for Beatles drumming, or roots reggae?

It's getting closer. I wanted you all to be able to play with it over the weekend too. Well, it's still Saturday and it should be up this afternoon.

Squids, I really appreciate your work and generosity but please don't use the word "should" anymore. Just say: It will be up there at so and so the earliest and you will receive your redeem codes at so and so.Squids wrote:It's getting closer. +1 SC
I'm in the GMT time zone, so Saturday is all but toast at this point in time. I would just like to know when the downloads will be available for sure, not when they should be available. I can plan around that.
Don't get me wrong, this is still an outstanding deal, when it is delivered, but until it is delivered, it is indistinguishable from a hoax.

Pink, pink, pink, pink ...... Pink Moon. Those were the only lyrics I could ever catch out of that song. What a great talent, gone too soon like so many.Squids wrote:More like the folksy side of Pink Floyd, CSNY, S&G, Van, Led Zep and even a pinch of Nick Drake. Aha! Anyone know him? Pink Moon.
