Okay, you're right. Probably best to go in chronological order... even though the numbers jump around. JUMP AROUND! JUMP AROUND! lolzedd wrote:Strong coffee!!Squids wrote:It all depends how late I can keep our web developer up. But if possible YES!
But actually... I don't know why I am adding to any pressure you you folks. Even though I would be happy to download some more kits tonight and play with them for a little while, I have lots of other stuff I can do... so forgive me if I am coming across as demanding.
Thanks for asking, but none of them in particular, really. You might as well just continue chronologically, or whichever way is easiest.Squids wrote:Any particular kits you want next of the OWDs?
Now if you were offering any non-OWDs (which I know you aren't) then I would beg for one of the Bonham kits, because they promise to be a heap of fun to play with.
Yeah, the Bonham kits are insanely fun. I gotta say, as much as I was initially enjoying Mexico City it is good to be back here with my studio and computers and controllers... ahhhhhhhh. I love you guys! Come here you Yamaha Motif you! Get over here V-Drums give us a hug! I was like a fish out of water with my little Novation (although I love that Xiosynth - that one is cool).
So, now that I am back I am looking forward to knocking out those DM2 kit demos so you have something to pre-audition before loading. That was such a good idea I think I might use that system for my own music making... even though I don't mind loading up a kit to hear it in context. But the discrete demo per kit is a handy shortcut.
Anyway, the phases make a lot of sense for many reasons. Since this is all new and even NEWER to a lot of people here I think it is best that we take this in steps and make sure everybody is cool before there is a MASSIVE onslaught of sounds all over the place and IRs... just one step at a time and a little clean up of this weekend's cludge is in order as well. To add to that we want to TEACH people how to use the stuff to the max this week and coming weeks, months since this is the new system for Sonic Reality drum samples. These features will be in many of the drum products we do for the Infinite Player. EpiK DrumS, Neil Peart, Hugh Padgham's Phil and Copeland kits and more.

Thanks Qdraw! That is certainly nice to hear. Maybe our honesty about messing up a few things is balanced by strong efforts to satisfy everyone. I know as a consumer myself companies usually try to hide and pretend nothing is wrong or don't even apologize... oh like the airport! I waited in line at Mexicana for a half hour only to get to the front and they say "Your ticket was booked through Mexicana but it's an American Airlines flight so you have to wait in THAT line" - no epointz, no apology for not just putting AMERICAN AIRLINES on my ticket so I'd know, no free piano, no chatting with the owner of Mexicana (or anyone else)... just get in line beeeoch. That is reality. So from that standpoint I can see how our level of customer service is freshing. To be honest, as the owner of the company I'd prefer to just get these things right from the start. But, it's a New Year and we strive to be the best so... we'll see.Qdraw wrote:Squids,
My hat is off to what you and your staff are accomplishing (and continue to accomplish) this is simply stunning. You have another customer for life. Thank your staff for us.
What I really hope is that you all are thrilled about the sounds. That is a reason to come back more than anything. This year the Infinite Player line is going to unfold with vintage keyboards, world instruments, drums of every brand and top name drummers, sound effects and orchestral sounds for film, pianos... just look at the photo gallery on www.sonicreality.com to see what we've been sampling for years just to be here now. This is an exciting time and we're proud to introduce many of you to our world of sounds. That above all is why we bend over backwards. We're on a mission to get these sounds out there and in good use!

Jazz kit should be in your download area if you already own Infinite Player and chose the Jazz kit with the redeem code. Let me know if you have any problems with it. I don't think so this time.

People are getting tired early... so we'll have ALL of the OWD kits of phase 1 available by the end of the work day tomorrow. I'll have a whole team to help knock that out which is a lot easier than trying to do it like this. Let's pretend this weekend never happened. Unless you enjoyed it. For me? It was both a hell and an enlightening experience. Extreme contrast is always uncomfortable but it teaches you exactly what you don't want which should prompt you to point in the direction of what you DO want. And now we're back to philosophy again. What a thread!

You know how SR likes to cater to both the beginner/intermediate and the top pro? Well, I'd like to offer the same for the culinary experience so... remember that chicken broth I was talking about? Okay, if you want to make something advanced yet simple and some sort of magical mystery broth then add in the following (first you have to find it):
Dried Porcini Mushrooms - just a few for flavor
Shitake Mushrooms - fresh, slice them up if you want.
Chopped Greene Onions and/or Shallots
Japanese Yuzu juice - okay, lime if you don't have it but that's a little secret citrus juice I like... sort of a Ponzu ZING to it. Some restaurants use it in their ponzu sauce.
I am healing myself because I really got run down the past few days. A little detox this week and this Squids brew is really good. Even if one of you just ONE of you does the above I will be mighty proud. Let me know. I am not holding my breath. But here's the yuzu (not likely to find it in your local market): http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/Articles/E ... /yuzu.aspx

Oh indeed. The gesture is much appreciated, and the value of the GB is already huge with or without the addition of the piano. I was only trying to determine if it is the same... and I believe it is, unless there are new scripts or velocity layers or something.Squids wrote:...that piano. So only some people have it already... and as I said if you do then, well, it was the thought that counts. A gesture overall for the majority of people. We can only do so much on a broad scale to make everybody happy.
Yeah. Go home and get some sleep! Tomorrow is plenty soon enough.Squids wrote:People are getting tired early... so we'll have ALL of the OWD kits of phase 1 available by the end of the work day tomorrow.

I don't know whether this is related or not, but after installing the software my copy of Guitar Rig 3 no longer works. As a plugin it can't be validated and as a stand alone application it crashes upon launch.
Just an FYI in case someone else experiences this.
I sent a support ticket to Native Instruments.

My philosophy about cooking is very similar to my philosophy about sounds and music. Essentially "mix it up". Combine a little Italian mushrooms with Japanese citrus and see what happens. Take a Bonham kick and a Collins snare with some OWD toms and from combining those flavors you come up with something new. A hybrid kit. A hybrid meal. Same basic concept to me.
I learned a bunch of this from a very prominent chef in LA named Katsu. I was the third customer to walk in the day he opened in Studio City in the late 90's. He makes the most creative and delicious mix of Japanese and other cuisine. His restaurant became number 1 in Zagat's and he's opened a bunch now. Called Katsu-Ya. If you're in LA or visiting you MUST go there. Anyway, he also had a philosophy of carrying things that other restaurants didn't have - even some things that cost more than what he sold it for. He'd actually lose money on some stuff but he said this is what makes his restaurant different. So, I've adopted that philosophy for Sonic Reality. Who else would just throw in a Deluxe Piano out of nowhere without anyone even asking? We just lost a ton of money from anyone who was actually going to just BUY that like normal (and people even said they had their eye on it). But, that's a taste of what more you can do with the Infinite Player. When Katsu had caviar on top of the Salmon it was one more thing to make me come back for more... and others too. Now you can barely get in without a reservation. This was just right next to my mailbox in LA that I happened to walk into one day.
Anyway, sorry for going off topic. I thought some of that philosophy and analogy might be interesting to some. I'm a big believer in paying it forward.

GR3 & 4 fine here - though my Infinite Player install is an old one (quite probably prior to installing GR3 or 4) So it might be worth trying a GR3 reinstall.Ah Xoc Kin wrote:I don't know whether this is related or not, but after installing the software my copy of Guitar Rig 3 no longer works. Beyond being super interested in the Ken Scott stuff you are doing, I would love to see you release your Trons in the Infinite Player/Kontakt format.Squids wrote:What I really hope is that you all are thrilled about the sounds. I mean, I see you now have SampleTron and SampleMoog on sale super cheap right now at eSoundz -- and I am thinking about getting SampleTron -- but even better, as I am soon going to Win 7 64 bit, it would be awesome to have them for Kontakt (as IK's stuff is all 32 bit and according to a post on KVR from an IK rep, 32 bit is not even on their roadmap for this year -- for me, that is a deciding factor to go a different route and I really appreciate NIs support of Win 7 64 bit).

Ah the best solution for that is to just get AmpliTube.Ah Xoc Kin wrote:I don't know whether this is related or not, but after installing the software my copy of Guitar Rig 3 no longer works. As a plugin it can't be validated and as a stand alone application it crashes upon launch.

Just kidding. For that you'd have to kontakt NI. All of this is THEIR software. We just license the player and make the sounds. The technical side of the software itself is NI's support. We can help with Kontakt itself as much as we can but as far as Guitar Rig... I have no idea. I am sure they must know and have solutions for that... maybe check the NI forum? Or if someone else knows. I never heard of that but I don't use Guitar Rig.
Wait, PPC? You can only use Kontakt 3.5 with that. They dropped PPC support for Kontakt 4 (and may have dropped the support for Guitar Rig too). Best to talk to them in all seriousness.

Squids Tron Collection will be in Infinite Player some time this year. Maybe somewhat soonish... like the next batch we do. But, SampleTron is killer and the GUI is a lot of fun as are the built-in effects and special patches that only sound that way because of the engine which is different.
