I wouldn't worry about it. For me the hi-hats are working beautifully with my fingers. As soon as you download one of the kits you can check it out for yourself.

If it turns out that you want it back the way that Squids likes it, he said it would be easy for him to post the alternate instruments since he is going to be building them anyway.

No worries. I caught that. We were just about to post the kits but we can add in a way to have it BOTH ways regarding the hi hat. Since apparently doing the new choking method doesn't work so well for V-Drums, the newly updated Kits 1 and 2 (yes we're back to doing that) plus all of the other kits (oh yeah, ready in a bit here get you're download engines started) will have NEW hi hats that work the PRE-EBOW way as it will now be called (just kidding). It should work fine the way it was originally intended... that's what happened when we changed it for iMap.

So it will be EBOW way for iMap and GM (closed chokes the opens) and SQUIDS way for the V-Drum mode (only FOOT chokes the opens). BUT the good news is if you wanted ANY of the formats to work the SQUIDS way (which I really recommend... just kidding - it is each person's preference) all you have to do is load in the V-Drum version of the hi hat and switch the map with one click to any of the other formats that drop down in the map page. Best of both worlds just for you guys! Now that I have a full team at my disposal you can see how fast we can do something like that. What a relief. I've never loved them more. I bought them all sushi today and donuts, cookies... what a team. I feel like James Stewart in It's a Wonderful Life. "Hello you crazy Building and Loans!"

I'll let you know when it's all ready.

thing is i don't want to get into any bad habits...it suddenly, this evening, dawned on me that i might have been missing a fundamental element in my finger drumming and would really appreciate knowing the answer to my question

i know squids has offered to make the other available and has also made it clear that others have requested this but i still feel that i pushed the most

anyways..thanks...i won't worry too much

i can't believe how patient i've become...i've had these 2 kits sitting in my d'load are for the whole weekend and still haven't done anything with them....

once the 'all clear has been given i think i'll d'load the kits 1-2 at a time, try to get to know the software and those kits first...by the time i get it all it'll be time for the next group buy :D

sweet...if you get time, though, please let me know about my question regarding authentic playing

you SR guys rock :!:

p.s to avoid confusion maybe the drop-down selection for the choke behaviour should be 'ebow' :D

I'm having an issue with the Hi Hat. I have a TD-20 with a VH-12 that I just factory reset. The open sounds are being choked by other Hi Hat hits. I'm unable to get any edge/sloshy grooves going, or grooves where I'm playing on the bow and accenting on the edge.

I emailed support but have not gotten a response.
Solved. It was for a change to the iMap at the last minute and didn't get to test that on the V-Drums but we put it back to the way it worked before and it should be fine. Sorry about that.

We will post the PATCHES for kit 1 and 2 that you can download quick and drag/drop onto the library installer to replace the ones you have. I'll even post my own link to it in here for convenience too in a bit. For those that haven't downloaded yet - no worries at all as it will all just work... V-Drum hats, graphics... all of the woes of this weekend will drift away into the sea of silence and new loud BANGING ON KILLER DRUMS shall commence. You ready?

Now remember, THESE OWD kits don't even have any of the effects on them. Wait until you hear how INSANE the hybrid kits are. You guys may like us because we work hard and we're nice or make jokes on forums but wait until you REALLY experience all of the sounds. I think you'll find this to be one of the best deals you're ever likely to come across and... well to be honest we hope you're addicted to OUR drums! Kind of like a kid in a candy store. This is great and yet it is just the tip of the iceberg.

Talked to Slate today and we're going to have those coupons and products available by next week. We're also going to be doing some other stuff together this year that will have to remain a surprise until NAMM. Let there be Drum Masters. ;) Just kidding.

What else... a lot. Better check on everything. Be back in a bit.

Hey Dave - just a little side question about the various differences between esoundz.com and downloadablesoundz.com. I know my epointz from esoundz.com become usable credit over at downloadablesoundz.com and vise versa, but one thing I've noticed is that generally I can get a better deal by purchasing products at esoundz.com because of my "membership" level based upon past purchases. Is there any plans to have your membership level carry over so you can get similar discounts at downloadablesoundz.com?

I can buy Ocean Way Drums DL less at esoundz.com and use my epoitz to get it even lower. While at downloadablesoundz.com it is a flat 200 creditz (note how I'm doing a great job at keeping up with the "z" in everything.) So - I get almost $25.00 off for using esoundz instead. Just wondering since it's all the same company, wouldn't it make sense to have similar pricing structures/benefits at both sites?

Either or - it's a minor thing, but it just got me thinking.

Thanks Dave,

Jind

Squids wrote:eSoundz is kind of like a "sound outlet" mainly for the purposes of selling Sonic Reality but other stuff that we have easy access to or drop ships, is downloadable etc. There is no single Sonic Reality dealer that carries all of our stuff so we had to make one. That's esoundz.

DownloadableSoundz.com is meant for dealers to be able to sell a vast range of virtual inventory through Download Cards (like iTunes cards). It's a huge benefit to them and a chance for them to have an even larger range than esoundz has (because it has thousands of individual loops, instruments and other things that can be purchased by buying bulk credits). It's also meant to be for more than just Sonic Reality sounds. But that one is only a year old and the other two have been around in various versions for around 7-10 years. So... it's still a baby but a great concept and it will solidify more this coming year.

So as long as we're trying to do those three different activities there is no way to consolidate them all. But there is a way to connect your esoundz account to a downloadable (if someone joins DownloadableSoundz first though it doesn't go the other way because they could come from another deal and we handle that with respect to the dealer).

Anyway, it's not that big a deal to be a member of all of those. Each has a different purpose. SR.com tells you about the products with behind the scenes photos, videos and more. eSoundz is a STORE and downloadablesoundz is for buying credits and using your epointz to get a la carte stuff, multi-choice products (that's why we used it for this GB)... so it all has its purpose. Just seems like a lot but... there are a lot of components in this group buy! You also have to get EZ Player Pro from Toontrack when you get the serial if you choose it at that phase. So that + Naive Instruments makes 5. But... ALL good stuff. The worste that can happen is you're on their newsletters which you can cancel.

If we're going to do it I want to do it right. In fact, I really want to go even further with V-Drums and E-Drums to find ways to get the best possible performance. It starts with users having it and giving feedback but we're listening. It also helps we have a ton of e-Drum kits here as well. The companies send them to us. I know that is just maddening to hear. We don't even have room to set them all up! But, nice perk of being in this side of the business I guess. Gear galore. Ever since I did that Yamaha ad a few years ago it has been so much easier to get another keyboard... "Oh you use a Motif huh? Well here's an OASYS! Here's a Kawai with wood keys and real hammer action! Now what do you like bitch?". So... between those and my Nords I do think it's a toss up. I don't exclusively use the Motif. But I have a great relationship with Yamaha and they make great quality products. In fact, we're going to have something BRAND new from Yamaha in the SR booth this year! I can't talk about it yet though. Some surprises revealed in about a week though.

Anyway, the good part about us getting spoiled with the hardware overload is that it helps us test things for you guys. I have a Trap Kat, Drum Kat (Mario is a great guy) and we're supporting the Alesis DM as well... plus a few surprises from another company... it's only going to get better for both keyboardists and e-drummers.

That's good news. I definitely noticed that the hi-hats were marvelous when finger drumming the iMap, but didn't seem right when using them with V-drums. I was thinking that maybe I wouldn't be using the V-drums much, afterall, but if the updated patches make the V-drum hats work better then that will be great! :-)

No member discounts on DLZ. That's an esoundz-only thing. But you can still use your epointz on esoundz... just have that minimum $5 CC thing there is all. Buy wherever it is the better deal. I think it all depends. Sometimes there is no membership discount and it is cheaper on DLZ. Sometimes it is a product that isn't even offered on esoundz and ONLY on DLZ (like individual loops for example). The good part is you have choices... more options to use you e-pointz money.

Also, McDonalds is going to be accepting epointz soon but just for Happy Meals. Just kiddin'
