Rogue is actually very good for bass lines and leads. Good Lead sounds are often something that I feel is missing on many synths, but not on rogue.

Cheers xenobioz, and to others, for the feedback re. Rogue .... yeah, I think its gonna work for enough folks to venture a launch in a couple of days
... Cool! it's got a good mix of stuff I love and a good load of what frustrates me ... perfect!
Mac .... you can get that list down to 7 if you take your own one out!

Yes agree about Rogue. My initial skepticism was a bit like with Flex at first, but after a bit of fiddling it turns out quite good.
Only issue is the 1 output mono thing as it gives some headaches in the DAW with not being able to use normal instrument tracks (only accepts stereo) + some effects working unexpectedly or not at all in the case of autopanners etc.
Also editing sounds is quite a handful as I really don't get how it all works, so you certainly don't make this easy, but then I guess that's where the 'challenge' -part comes in..

Aaah .. been a while since I used cubase, but at the end of the day, a stereo track, if fed with a mono signal simply feeds the same mono signal to both sides .... so, internally, FNS4 feeds mono output to left and right ... therefore, it'll be happy whether it's loaded on a mono or stereo track. Can I assume that Rogue can be loaded to a mono assigned track but not to a stereo track?
Whether it does or not, there's no difference really ... in fact, performance may well be better if a mono instrument is loaded to a mono track, and this will be the same for synths like FNS4 ... with its 'two track mono' output .... if it works in a mono assigned track, then theres no advantage to assigning the track to stereo, unless you want to treat the left and right trains differently.

Anyway, before I go to bed, ...... any more votes???? ...
Thinking of starting an OSCers general discussion thread to cope with all this off topic stuff

The new instrument tracks in Cubase lets automation finally follow the instruments on the same track where the midi is, as opposed to before when one could only load midi tracks and assign them to a VSTi and all automation would be on that separate VSTi track..
That was a pain when moving or copying instrument parts around, as you would have to go to the VSTi track and manually do the same for any automation belonging to those parts as well..
As these new instrument tracks only works on stereo instruments, and there's no midi learn either, I'm back to the old system with mono Rogue..
The plugin issue I mentioned must be because those are stereo only, but no biggie as I can easily draw pan curves manually, and I've found replacements for the filters and delays that worked strange.
But speaking of filters, are they considered EQs? Can I use native filters?

Hey, thanks for the vote!!
I agree with you, it's tough, and I'm still in the 3-more-to-eliminate situation I was yesterday

Flex 'n Morph - V'ger - 10
This is my personal winner. Great composition with complex passages showcasing FNS filtering.
Flex-n-Dance - Totolitoto - 5
Good rythmic section, nice electronic drums, a lot of morphing, various patches, and I think I heard FNS' sequencer presence.
Flex-n-stramash - tattiemannie - 3
...because dad knows what is good for his child
Mac_of_BIOnighT---THE_BRIGHTEST_STAR - 2
On this track FNS is singing like a Tibetian monk. Also I got caught by flute patch at the end (so create songs with sound of flute and you've got my vote
)
The Conversation - morflex - 1
Another singing one. I really like vocoder-like effects with all these fake formants.
and my special votes, because I couldnt drop these ones:
The CheeseFlex - Mouxbar
For positive effect on me.
Fast 'n Slow - OSCXI - Yeager
This is good, finished piece, and Yeager's second piece is already sitting close to top so my votes on this might not really count

My track for the next OSC will be titled "Scores of flutes fluting along surrounded by flutes and more flutes," I think you may like it ;-P
