+1 for the GrooveMonkee stuff. I've had most of his stuff for years, and used it on pretty much everything I did up until I got Jamstix (and even then, I'll -- shhh, don't tell anyone -- sometimes use a GrooveMonkee MIDI file as the base template for a Jamstix groove). Only, all my GrooveMonkee stuff is in General MIDI and I don't know what the upgrade path is to get them all in iMap (or if there's even any advantage to having the files in iMap layout).
According to the GrooveMonkee newsletter email that turned up today:
"If you've purchased ANYTHING directly from us, you're entitled to download all available mappings - FREE of charge! Login to your account and go to the download area (top menu, right side).

Tip: If you purchased before June 2006, please email upgrades [AT] groovemonkee.com for an auto reply with instructions on for downloading your previous purchases."

I mentioned this in another thread, but it's probably worth mentioning that while I love Dave and Sonic Reality, I'd buy all Groove Monkee products directly from the source as they do not offer upgrades to purchases made elsewhere according to this thread at their support forums:

http://www.groovemonkee.com/phpBB3/view ... &sk=t&sd=a

I'm not sure why - it must just be a records thing, but it's a shame really, to offer your product at other outlets, but not award users with the benefits of upgrade capabilities.

Fortunately I've always made my purchases at groovemonkee.com and have gotten all the various mappings that are available.

I guess it's a matter of buyer beware.

:hyper: Open, open, open....

I'm so jazzed about what we've got, I'm over the moon but I've got serious ants in my pants to get these SM kits. I've never seen 800MB drum kits before. :hihi:

Thank you. :)

Cool! :D

I'm still gonna wait til the whole goose is cooked, but I have to say I'm eager to try iMap. Having the Bonzo-sloshy hihats I think will be of huge benefit, as I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to get that to sound somewhat realistic.

I'm in the middle of mixing a project where the drums don't sound too good (actually, it's a good recording of crappy drums!) and I don't want to download this stuff only to find it's better than what I'm using now. I have a deadline!

Are you kidding me? I'm FREEEEEZING. I tried turning on the heat at the office and the smoke alarm went off and the whole place stunk. Woops... guess it doesn't work! My office in particular is the coldest.

Bonzo? John Bonham. Little band called Def Leppard perhaps you've heard of?

lol.... (let's see if anyone takes that bait shhhh)

No, no! I just had originally mis-spelled Bonzo and written Boonzo, who is probably a half-drunk party clown who's really happy he googled his name and this thread came up. 'Course I know who Bonzo is!!

Nice try with the bait. We all know that Def Leppard's drummer is Keith Moon.

Anyway, I had the same thing happen at my girl's house (the smoke), except it smelled like that horrid smell when they drill my teeth. God, I hate the dentist!!

Squidz, I know you've lived lots of places, but are you a native Miamian? I am, and I seem to be one of the few that LOVES this weather. Where are you from originally? Inquiring cephalopods want to know!

Squids,

Is there some way to take advantage of JamStix partially open hat settings (i.e., 25%, 50%, 75%), in addition to the open and closed articulations?

Thanks in advance,
G

A good start for additional hi-hat assignments is to download the iMap chart on the top of page 2 in the Vital Info Thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 5&start=15

I've been testing with JamStix beta 3 and found that if you save a kit preset after it is loaded and modified, when you relaunch the preset it remembers the kit correctly. So, for instance, I have a JamStix kit named OWD Kit 6 Ambient, and one named OWD Kit 10 Ambient, and they each load their respective kits properly.

Pretty cool. 8)
