I really like the subtleties that these kits give you.

yeah...quite easy to tweak it all...should be a lot of fun...hopefully we can all share some interesting creations :)

If you guys want to share NKM multi and NKI instrument files that is fine. We may have to provide a specific portal for this patch sharing so it is properly moderated. Make sure you don't share any NKX files. Not fine. ;) Those are the samples and cannot be redistributed. Anyone who wants to keep an eye on this for us all feel free. It can be a cool thing as long as it is done right.

I haven't downloaded this zip but I assume it is just patches.

Great. Bravo to ebow to be the first to do it. We're going to have a kit making contest this month actually and that will REALLY generate some hybrid kits for everybody. Fun huh Rev? This is going to be a great year for drums.

Now, we'll have to get into this slowly and make sure we do this so everyone can take advantage. I may have to give you guys some tips on how to put it together. I can give you a template hierarchy to place the NKM or NKI files into and if you use Winrar to zip it then they can actually be dragged and dropped onto that nifty Library Installer utility. But if you're patient I will do that after we're done with the GB phase 3 delivery.

Oh this is gonna get good!

It's fine in principle. We may have to create a special place for that because it is something new and we want to make sure people do it correctly. The key is ONLY "NKM" and/or "NKI" files. No waves, no NKX, no Rex... but the PATCHES we will do an exchange system for. However, to get started we'll probably test it out here in our company forum and we'll all have to help keep an eye on the zips to make sure they don't have samples in them that's all. If we have a cool honor system regarding that then it could benefit everyone. How cool would that be? A community oriented pool of creative patches. We'll also have to have a standard way of presenting what someone has to own in order to use the patches. For example, "pre-requisite: Ultimate Studio Drums Group Buy Bundle" would be listed with your patches... otherwise other Drum Masters users might be scratching their head why it doesn't work. Same thing for a patch made with a hybrid between the FULL version of another Drum Masters library and this. Pre-requisite would be BOTH those same libs. That's all. Some organization and also a big fat disclaimer that these are not SONIC REALITY patches but user patches... we may have to require them to be put in a folder called "User Patches" or something...

You jumped the gun a little - but I like your enthusiasm a lot. If anyone else has any ideas on the best way to do this let us know. We value your input and this is for you!

let me know what you want me to do

I assumed, based on what Squids said above, that it would be ok to download the file. (There are no samples in it.) Can i ask: where do I put it? Do I shove the zip into the infinite player or does it go under a particular folder (i am on mac.)

thanks! :)

I have a thought... please insist that all drum NKI or NKM files are all accompanied with a short Mp3 sample with the same name (just as eBow included in his).

Since it is likely that most people will only find a small percentage of drum kits which really suit their taste or their needs, it is important to have an easy way to audition these things. I am unlikely to participate if I need to load each NKI or NKM manually in order to audition it. Way too time consuming a way to find the diamonds, especially with that 15 second scripting pause.

However, a short Mp3 (with as much of the drum kit that as can be represented in the first 5 seconds of the sample) will allow the samples to be placed in an iTunes playlist and quickly auditioned.

You might even provide a great MIDI sample which utilizes all the main kit pieces in a couple of bars, and ask users to include that MIDI right at the beginning of their Mp3 sample so that all samples start with the same few bars.

Cool. :-)
Somewhere in the background zedd
