Squids wrote:It's really designed to be a bundle. If you want to use the hybrid kits you really have to have all of the samples or it won't work consistently. Tracing back each kit piece is a lot of extra work for you and for me. They can be modified quite a bit as well and a lot of crossover between different kit pieces. I think if you want to load less than the whole thing you have to stick with the non-hybrid kits. Or experiment and see what loads with what you have and what doesn't. I hadn't thought of someone not just having all of it on a hard drive. That's really what it is for - an external hard drive with everything there. If you don't have something there you could be missing out. These days hard drive space is so inexpensive that I can't imagine someone not having 20 gigs of free space for this. Plus you paid for it!

Anyway if you like the idea of hybrid kits then by all means download and keep all of the material together. That's what is recommended.
That's what I figured. I will definitely have all of the stuff on my main computer where I have 100's of gigs of space available. My laptop is old, USB ports are few (and used by other peripherals), and hard drive space at a premium. I'll stick to using my favorites of the kits available on my laptop and look forward to using ALL of the goodies when I get back to my main studio.

Thanks,

Michael

The beautiful thing about the Infinite Player is that it is infinitely expandable with a large range of current and future sounds from Sonic Reality. There's no special limited version of Infinite Player for this group buy. It's the full open Infinite Player that can read all Infinite sounds we have on www.esoundz.com

Note: It doesn't read the other regular Ocean Way Drums sounds. That uses their player called "Ocean Way Drums Expandable Player". That wasn't included in this group buy or it would have cost you more. Instead we licensed the specific OWD sounds from them to be encoded for the Infinite Player just for this bundle.

Everything else Sonic Reality has for Kontakt works with Infinite Player though. Plus if you buy any of the Drum Masters kits now you'll get a free update to the DM2 versions of them when they are available. So that could be fun to play now and know you'll have the latest features when they come out. A lot of cool stuff to download including drum kits and grooves from famous drummers.

Finally downloading the last kit. I had problems with the download stopping before it's done and having to start all over.
Nice sounding kits alright. Glad I bought them. I can even mix and match kit pieces with my Steven Slate kit pieces for completely different sounding kits.

Hydemusic, no pressure implied. I just want to know the plan, whatever it is.

...edited for brevity...
I agree that this is cool 8) ! The value for money is incredible and I personally don't know of any better value compared to this group buy price. I am not aware of any other opportunity that existed for someone to build a massive library of high quality drum sounds for only 99 USD. This is more than a good deal, it is a stupendous deal.

At this price, for this product, I am not at all bothered by a little bit of confusion. For me, I am happy to make the trade-off of a little bit of confusion in exchange for ~4 USD/high quality kit + extras.

Squids, I appreciate the generous commercial offer that you made and I personally thank you and your entire team for the work you are doing. I wish you all a 2010 filled with peace, joy and good health!

The new Drum Masters 2 products will be how you'd normally expect them to be. Not so custom shop oriented. But the good thing is that many of the requests from users here will be implemented in that final product. You all had a say and that's rare! I think it's cool and I hope most of you do too. Plus it was fun and everyone won.
Also another great point, this GB is free in the end with the $99. coupon toward the final DM2 products or OWD. It's like paying for an estimate and have it applied toward the final price..How cool is that? :D :o

Wow, the Tama Brushkit is awesome, just the kickdrum doesn't do it for me in that kit. Exchanging it with the kick from OWD Kit 2 makes the perfect jazz set.

The beauty of being able to interchange these kit pieces! :D

yarimurray wrote:I have a question regarding the hybrid kits. As I understand it these kits will use some kit pieces from already completed kits and have some new pieces. Since I'm currently away from my home studio (and my large hard drives) with a laptop I'm not planning to load all of the kits (don't have the space).

That being said I'm wondering if there will be a listing of kit pieces each hybrid kit uses from other kits versus unique kit pieces. I'm afraid if I try to use the hybrid kits and I haven't downloaded a particular kit and it's pieces that I will run into trouble.
This might help, when loading hybrid kits like "Collins" kit for instance. Load the kit and look at the pieces in K4 or K3.5. As you scroll down you'll see the names of the kit pieces. The snare or another drum are usually different and on the rest of the pieces you'll see "NDV Gretsch" for instance on each drum. You can write them down on a list and make your own kits without duplicating others.. You have to do this from your main computer though :D

I can't say that I have tried very hard, but in my initial explorations, I did not see a way to get a continuous snare stir on this Tama Brushkit. Is this just my ignorance or is this type of feature not included in this kit?

Well using the iMAP version of it, there are two stir samples, with a bit of programming it sounds pretty authentic imo.

That's the beauty of swappable kit pieces. Customize your own favorite kits. The more kits and kit pieces people get for their collection the more options they have. There are two Signature Kit volumes coming out that these DM2 kits come from. You get the FULL $99 credit toward either of them to get more. $99 off coupon. That will be on pre-order tomorrow and released before the end of the month.
