OK.....Dl'd Getsch kit for the 5th time, when DL is done my rar file size is..
1,062,588,288...witch is exactly the size it is supposed to be...but when I install it, I am still only getting a snare and a tom...where the hell is the rest of this file at ? I mean, I have the FULL FILE...anyone have this problem, this is the only kit not working right and I have the WHOLE file, atleast I think I do, it matches the size on the esounds site...I dont know man..This Gretch kit is killing me, I dont know where it is all going, it takes a good amount of time to install it when I drop the rar file onto the IP installer, but when I load it up in kontakt it takes like a second to load the kit (witch is way to fast)..I just dont know!!

Just a thought - One thing that I might set up at some point is a multi that contains ALL of the snares from this group buy, then a different one for all of the kicks, and so on. Then, when trying to figure out what to use for a tune that I'm working on, I can load the "snare multi", mute/unmute to search, and perhaps that will speed things along. Might be a cool multi to include for everyone. That should work, right? I'm pretty new to Kontakt.....

I'm trying to think through ways to get efficient with sorting through and dialing in the massive amount of sounds here! I suppose after a while you'll end up internalizing each of the sounds, but anything like this might help. Curious if others have other great suggestions. BFD has that website where you can audition each kitpiece, and that's almost the intent here.

I suppose one thing that would help streamline this would be to know which OWD kits, etc., share pieces, which DM2 share pieces, etc., - so that only distinct drums are loaded into the "snares" multi.

Yes it works great, I've used that method for a long time now, I must have a Brazilian drums samples. I usually organize them in group formats, i.e. in this case, OWD snares, OWD kicks etc.

Couple issues...

One, is that though I seem to have all the kits/samples and they work fine some of the time, some of the individual kit pieces will sometimes load up saying 'Demo' instead of the actual piece. They seem to work fine (this happened on the kick once, but it still played; I am a finger drummer with only 12 pads and I've only been playing with the kits so far; i'll work on improving my reach later :) but it's weird. Any idea why this would happen?

Second... more of a fix than an issue. On the OWD10 kits, in GM mode, the crash 1 assignment defaults to 'crash 2', and crash 2 to 'special 1'. Is that intentional? The normal crash sound doesn't work, but if I switch the setting to crash 1, then it triggers normally to a crash 1 note.

Thanks! These have been a blast so far, so expressive and easy to play! Definitely reaching the limits of my nanopad though :) Will really have to get a decent edrum set eventually....

Download it and install it as a zip.

I think everybody knows this, but let me be Captian Obvious here...

Do not un-zip the folders. Simply drag them over the IP installer.

Yeah, I didn't mean for him not to use the installer. I was telling him not use WinRAR.

A good idea. You could even do some custom note assignments and make it so that each snare or each kick shows up on a different key. That way you wouldn't have to mute and unmute. You would have your keyboard filled with the variations, and then you would simply choose what you want, and determine which one it is. That could be handy. :-)

My solution, I think, is going to be a continuation of my kit piece audio snippets. I create short Mp3s with the source of the kit piece in the title so that I can search for toms, kicks, snares, hi-hats, cymbals and brushes in a systematic way in my iTunes folder. The advantage of this method is that you can actually PLAY the Mp3s while you are doing something else around the apartment or studio, and then when something stands out from the others you just rush over to iTunes and see what it was. And you can also include samples from different drum libraries not in IP format.

Squids has talked about making Mp3s of each kit for us to do just this, but I think I will probably do this for individual kit pieces as well -- but only for the ones that jump out as my favorites, to minimize the selection process later. :phones:

In the process of downloading I encountered something I don't know how to overcome. I wonder whether others have experienced this and what they did:

I successfully downloaded a file for every OWD Kit 'button'. Then I attempted to download all the Drum Masters 2 zips. Unfortunately, I ran out of disk space before I was complete. I arranged for more disk and tried to match the file names against the buttons on the screen and had doubts about which files were complete. WinZip can open all of them. So - I decided to simply download all the Drum Master 2 zips again.

When they were complete I noticed that the file sizes for identical names in my new (complete) download set didn't match those from my (original) partial download set. Many of my new files were smaller than the old ones. Looking closer at them I noticed that the file contents of 2 zips from separate downloads, but having the same name, were different! In some cases way different. Yet - both zips opened fine with WinZip. Some files were in one but missing in the other and vice-versa.

This causes me concern and I wonder:
1. How can I identify which files should be contained in which zip if bad downloads can be opened successfully in WinZip? If I'm missing something - how will I know?
2. If there is only a single set of zip files then my two download attempts should have yielded identical contents if they weren't corrupt - why would they open at all if only part of the zip made it through to me?

I was wanting to reply to the fellow who found that perhaps the Kit Installer was not working properly. I am quoting jarrydee as well here, because he might be having the same problem I was.

I have all the kits working now on my OSX 10.6.2 system.

the kits I was having problems with were:

NDV Gretsch
NDV Premier Dry

I downloaded a number of the kits several times (because installing them the first time didn't work). They always downloaded the same size.

I always tried using the Infinite Library installer. something was wrong. The size of the *.nkx files was the problem - they were awfully small for a sample file.

Finally I read the post about the installer maybe not working.

So I unzipped the kits to a different location, and copied the constituent parts of the kits that were messed up into the Infinite Player Library location on my system, being careful to match up the instruments with instruments, multi's with multi's and samples with samples.

I also did the same with the Misc kits zip - and I did it after the other two - following what Allen / Squids have been saying about installing that kit last.

I don't think doing all the kits manually would be much fun - and the installer seems to work on most of them. But if you are having problems with no kit pieces showing up, or with random ones missing - check the size of the .nkx files in your Infinite Player library Samples directory vs. the same file out of a freshly unzipped Kit.

and Voila - now everything works. :hihi:

Until this morning I tried to download the "NDV ST Premier Kit (Dry)."

Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!!
Yes!!! happened a bunch. finished downloading the one kit that was going, shut down my browser, restarted and luckily it didn't happen again. So I was able to download it tonight.

I have been unable to download either of these kits:

Drum Masters 2 Signature Ludwg Jazz Kit (from downloadablesoundz.com)
Drum Masters 2 JB Session Sonor® Kit (from esoundz.com)

The Chicago kit is unable to load the samples. I tried to browse for the .nkx file it wants but it won't accept it. I tried to manually unzip it but no go. I re-downloaded the .zip from esoundz just to make sure. This kit does not load. Does anyone have a solution for it?
