When starting to work on this track, I initially wanted to make an instrumental streetsoul inspired and very UK sounding track. I had all kinds of artists in mind when doing it and I suppose there are hints of both Soul II Soul and Lisa Stansfield in this but It's got a fair share of MIDI-cheese in there as well so maybe it does sound like some 15 year old music from a commercial :hihi:
This was meant to sound like it was done around 1991 though and I think I pulled that off at least.

Anyway, have a listen. I call this "The Comeback" since it brings the past up to the present times (or something   )

Nice one, it reminds me of music from American TV series from the 80's, love it :)

As I finally thought K-Bee, all I had to do was go via internet explorer to be able to access the track ...

And yeah, it does have that vibe of a TV commercial ..I can just hear the voice over ...

"You can have it all" .... ( cue laid back young woman sauntering through a vibrant cosmopolitan European city at the height of summer ) ... "go shoppping, have lunch with friends, jump up and shout as you strike ten pins with that big heavy ball, and dance the night away .... and no-one need know you are menstruating ... now thats what multitasking is all about .... Femi-sponge .... the guardian angel for those who like to live dangerously" :hihi: :hihi:

... nice work! :)

lol

The mix sounds great.

Suggestions: Add a singer. Have a monster guitar solo in the quieter parts. Of that particular, re-appearing and very fast pentatonic triplet run, start and end on a different note of the pentatonic, each time. When going from 7 to 1, maybe sharp the 7th for a 'second' on the way to 1.

You definitely have an ear for production.

Thank You! :) I was thinking about doing a few variations to the pentatonic synth brass run by the way. There's only one now but I might add another. Was actually thinking of reversing (from 1 to 7)

And Tattie....you definitely have an ear for comedy!! I'm rolling on the floor because of that track description of yours! If anyone wanna do the voice over let me know! :hihi:

Thank you all. :)

Souncloud is down right now so I listened to the top track on your Myspace page instead.

You're about 23 years too late to score a love scene in 'Moonlighting'

Wicked stuff 8)

It's a good thing, well the track is a good thing to those that grew up in the 80's as your stuff is very evocative of that time! :hihi:

Listened to The Comeback now as well. I think if you could get the right vocalist on it you'd have a superb 80s pop track. Reminds me of Hue and Cry. Needs a mixdown but that doesn't really matter as the construction and sound choice is excellent.

Sweet, i'm 15 again 8)

I'd put it in the 80s-Instrumental-Jazzpop-that-isn't-afraid-to-be-unabashedly-artificial Drawer. Nice and upbeat!

It also reminds me of the incidental music of the late 80s/early 90s on TV a lot.

I never left that drawer :D  I'll let all the other KVR'ers handle the clever electronica. I'm sticking to the cheese bowl myself :hihi:

Thanks a lot musicman. Musically we're usually on the same page so your verdict means a lot to me. Thankfully it's a good one this time :D
