I am a guitarist who dabbles in drums (cheap Yamaha DTXplorer kit) and will use the USD to improve the sound of my recordings. I generally play classic rock/hard rock/heavy metal (overdriven guitars, thick bass guitars feature prominently) and am trying to decide which of the bonus kits might serve my purposes best.

At this stage, I am leaning towards the gretsch kit, but I'm not much of a fan of the snare (although, when playing around I did switch the snare out of the Gretsch kit which came in the group buy, replacing it with one of the OWD snares and seemed to get a pretty awesome sounding kit).

Happy to hear any suggestions of what might suit best. Admittedly, I am over the moon with the kits we already have, so the bonus one doesn't matter too much, but I may as well get something useful.

Cheers and thanks for any suggestions anyone can give me.

dimitar's opinion is the one that you should follow, listen to his music and see what I mean.

Wow, great job man. Nice playing! Yngwie's studio used to be right down the street. You can play like him. Good luck with your new album.

he'll get close but until he gets himself a proper 'metal' hairdo it will always lack a certain authenticity :D

nice.... :hihi:

funny you mention the blastix kit 'cause i really like it also.....i hated it on the demo player but now i'm enjoying it a lot...the upside of these delays is that i have had a chance to play the kits and this has better informed my choice for MT kits...previously it was gonna be gretsch and jb...now jb has lost out to blastix... :D

been checking out your site, dimitar....really digging your stuff...always been into satch and vai (vai moreso) and your playing is certainly up there....your tone and expression are fantastic....

good stuff

Very nice Dimi! The drums fit perfectly 8) Did you program the beats yourself, play them on the keyboard or e-drums or use midi from somewhere?

The drum parts follow the song very nicely. Well done! :tu:

To Per at OddGrooves ... given the unfortunate delays in getting the kits, is there any chance that you could extending the offer period for the 7000 grooves by a few days so we can better evaluate the included ones?

My first thought would be to wait until a number of people have downloaded them, and get their reactions. I think the user demos really help as well.

Also, since we're at the top of the page...
