In my setup, I have an instance of Kontakt with a number of instruments, each on their own MIDI channel, set up to resemble an orchestra (4 channels worth of strings, 3 of brass, 3 winds, and percussion). I'd like to be able to adjust the volume of a group of instruments using a MIDI foot pedal in such a way that the relative volumes of each section is preserved. For example, I want to have a setup where I can play with strings and winds, and at a later point bring in brass, on MIDI channels 5-7, with the foot pedal. In my setup, my french horns, trumpets, and trombones all have different volumes - I want the french horns to be dominant and don't need as much low end since I'm playing with a band with a bass player and don't want to make the low end too muddy.
Using Cantabile, is there a way that I can adjust the volumes of the brass in response to my foot pedal? Use the pedal value to control velocity curves, perhaps? Or should I be looking at a solution within Kontakt?

I guess relative changes on midi parameters are currently not possible with Cantabile midi filters as it would mean applying a factor on a value and controlling the factor...
Maybe Brad can provide such a midi filter anytime. I think such a midi filter functionality would be as useful as the "controller latch" and also a unique new feature nowhere else to find...
I am not very familiar with Kontakt but unless you can make some kind of group bus in the mixer and assigning the related instruments there and control the fader of this group remotely I have no idea how to get what you want...

Kontakt does have group bus-like functionality, but I wasn't able to assign a MIDI controller to the group bus fader, which is quite annoying, as I can assign MIDI controllers to most other things in Kontakt.
Kontakt is a multi-out plugin, though, so if I had a good way of adjusting the volume on a rack for each stereo pair coming out of Kontakt, that would work too.

Each rack slot in Cantabile has a master bus assignment and level adjustment in "tools" - "audio channels". But I believe these levels are static - at least not assignable to external midi controllers.
With subsession changes and subsession behavior "mix-levels" active the master bus levels seem not to change.
But different master bus levels are stored in a session and change when you load a different session with different levels.

I looked into changing the mix levels to the master bus as well, and like you said, they weren't assignable.
I have another solution that should work that I'll try at home. I grabbed GFader, a free fader plugin that I should hopefully be able to control from a CC. I'll drop a few instances of that into my Kontakt rack and route the audio from each stereo output from Kontakt into a different instance of the fader plugin.
