Just finished recording a bit of a sketchpad idea (more to try the drums out than anything else) and the drums are awesome. :D (I know, I'm not telling most of you anything you don't know).

Started out with the bonham kit, but with quite overdriven lead and rythm guitar tracks, plus an overdriven bass track it seemed a little lost (fair bit of reverb on the lead guitar track, not much on the others).

Decided to try the hybrid kits out and didn't get too far...first kit I tried was the Duke kit and it sounds awesome. I've decided I absolutely love the Gretsch toms (sounded weird to me by themselves, but with a heavy riff, over the top, worked really well) and the premier snare in this hybrid kit fits in nicely.

Mostly just wanted to post some praise to Sonic Reality for an absolutely awesome bunch of samples and thanks for the excellent group buy deal. I tend to be a bit cheap about my music gear (have a family, which comes first)and had not brought any drum samples as I coudn't justify the usually high cost. This has been an excellent intro to the world of high quality drum samples and I'm sure I'll be looking at some of the other packs, now I have a good base set of kits to start with.

Thanks need to also go to Squids and his team for all the effort and long hours to get these delivered. Whilst I had a few download issues (very few, solved with a DLM), my installtion of all the software and kits was totally trouble free. Brilliant work guys.

Hmmm... you know what's bizarre? There's kits in this collection called "Collins" and "Duke" - mostly just for fun in this case and not as accurately labeled as if it was the kits we recorded at Genesis' studio which are coming later in the Nick Davis and Hugh Padgham collections. But, I just found out that Genesis (or someone at the studio) bought this bundle. I don't want to say who. That's really cool. A bunch of them -techs and MR - are members of esoundz! Some might even read KVR... I better watch what I say. No funny stuff (just watched Big Lebowski again "We TAKES the money Lebowski!").

Small world. Keith Emerson also bought it. I wonder who else.

By the way, we almost finished late last night but the multiple choice thing was complex for EZ Player Pro. You'll have to jump through a few hoops to get it but not too bad. Easier to pick the two MT Kits which will just show in your download area... more news on it today. It will happen spread out over the course of the day today for sure. We'll also do a global patch update to bring it up to date. However, if there's anything found while we're at NAMM just post it into that community support thread or PM me and I will compile a list to do another patch update after people have had this long enough in case an issue is found. Then we'll do another global patch update if necessary later.

For people that really want to wait until it is in best form you could start your downloads the first of February. By that point the server will be ready for more action and we'll have ironed anything out in this massive new bundle of drums by then. Just understand we're talking about the 1% when 99% is ready to go. But that's up to you. No pressure to download now because there's no time limit to download from your download area. Anytime.

just a little reminder about the hi-hat chokes for kit 10 :D

Post

Hat chokes are done for the whole thing. Three different ways... including Kit 10. But they are done the way I described in the support thread. Default now includes edge and choke (as well as bell). But, there's the previous way in the GM (which can be switched to imap) and then my way which is in the VDRM (which can also be switched to imap). So you have it now three different ways to choose.

I will explain in a full video tutorial when I get back from NAMM. It starts Thursday and after we deliver Phase 3 here today we're going to be less available for a week and then back to normal. Allen is here though but on the weekend he's requested a break and I think he deserves it so... support from now until Friday and will resume on Monday.

Yeah, I have to redo them to the new hi hat request which is much stricter than I am used to... but worth it actually. Tighter. The files will be that much better so I don't have a problem with it. But we couldn't change the hi hat chokes AND do the SquidiMidi so at the same time. I'll have it ready within a week after NAMM. It will be really good. Pretty insane actually. You'll see.

Drum Masters: JB Stereo Sonr Drum Kit
...
Those 4 are all Multitrack versions of STm kits in the group buy.
Thanks. 2 questions:

Are they different from the Bonus kits in Phase III?
Are there updates available for DM version 1 users to version 2?

Thanks for your incredible dedication, Squids!

DM 1 to DM 2 updates coming in 2 weeks.

These are the bonus kits in Phase 3. They are MT versions of STm kits in the GB.

Okay! Gotta run!!!!!! Phase 3 in the works and entering people's user areas all day. I'd check later in the evening though just to be safe. I will not be around to answer questions until tomorrow night - if I am able to get a connect there in LA which I should. Use the community support thread guys! Thanks
