And I think there will be a couple of ways to skin that cat. Really freaking cool, I must admit. I go to Cali tomorrow and we gear up for this announcement. I think it will be tremendous!

I imagine IK is going to be ditching the current format of separate packages + X-GEAR. It would be wise if they did. There's really no point to install a separate AmpliTube, Metal, Hendrix, Ampeg, Fender, etc, since everyone just runs it all from X-GEAR. It's a waste of time and hard drive space to have to install X-GEAR and the individual packages. I think there will be one universal plugin/installer for everything AmpliTube, regardless of what packages you get, and you just authorize your purchases directly in that.

But will it be called AmpliTube 3, or AmpliTube Gear, or something else?
This is definitely a full version upgrade, if not a new product completely.

The reworked cab section really gets me excited.
With GR4 I had to eat my words - I never expected the fundamental improvement the CR brought even to older models.
And IK really seem dedicated to make this package count, so I have great hope for the cabs.

I like the preset browser with guitar and pickup position. I've actually been adding the pickup position in each of my preset names, and have things foldered by guitar. Please make sure you guys don't forget about Jazzmaster pickups, and the fact that there is a neck only rhythm circuit, and a neck only position in the lead circuit (in addition to the middle and bridge positions in the lead circuit).

These new developments have put this statement in a different light.
Obviously, old AmpliTube products are not going to be compatible with this upgrade. So of course anything old will have to be reworked, out of necessity, in order to be integrated into X-GEAR, in whatever form it takes.

So now the question is not really "what are we getting new" but perhaps "what are we losing that is old?"

Does this statement mean that not everything previously modeled will be available in AmpliTube anymore? Or that we will have to go for a period of time without the Ampeg SVX models, for example, while we wait for a version 2 release?

Are we going to still have all of the mic models available?
I didn't see the C12, RE20, D20, 441, or M160 being used in any of the photos.

Something like X-position controlled by StealthPedal, Y-position controlled by addon Expression Pedal? Always thought that was missing from AT :)

I think when the doors open and IK is sitting there with all their wonderous new wares on display, the cat will be out of the bag.

Sure isn't!

But it still doesn't clear up the question over the phase knob.
However, it answers any questions over whether or not it's still going to be called AmpliTube...

And it introduces a new question: what the heck is 'size'?
It that room/ambience size?
Or are we now going to have Incredibly Shrinking Cabinets?

And speaking of room ambience, will it be CSR powered in the new version?
