I am trying to play back a imported midi file in MW that came from Odd Grooves pack or EZDrummer with the Kontakt Player and Infinte Player that is usinga drumkit from Ocean Way Drums. The file does not play all the sounds that are in that groove. How do I make this happen? The groove shos notes when clicked on and thus far I can record with keyboard the Ocean Way Kits but when importing midi file it doesn't play all sounds of kit. Usually just the kick plays and sometimes more sounds but not all. Kontakt is loaded as VSTi in multitrack of SAW and the midi setup is correct for recording just not playing back other files with all sounds. The reason I ask is if I buy other midi grooves I would like this to work. Is there an INI file needed for each kit to map each drum hit/stroke to make this work?

Post

Why not just transpose the notes that aren't playing anything untill they play the desired drum sound.
Unless you have used the same kit as the person that made the MIDI file, you will always have similar issues.

Which OddGrooves MIDI file and which OWD kit are showing this problem? (I guess one from the Ultimate Studio Group Buy)

So basically buying any midi grooves would be almost worthless if you have to transpose each midi file imported is what you're telling me. The only thing the OWD is good for is performance recording? The transposing of many files would be ridiculous to do.

I got this working. My own issues I guess. But I did see bug in the volume ofkick drums. Keeps resetting to loudest volume.

Well I thought I had this working but after importing a midi deumfile from Drumcore and then trying to play with IP-Kontakt it didn't make sounds. I sw the midi lights blinking but no sound. So I'm stumped as I guess all midi drumfiles will NOT play with the setup. I tried moving channels and no dice. the file I imported went across 4 channels. They were on channels 1,2, 10 and even if I matched this with certain drum sounds, nothing. Where is good tutorial on midi drums? So far I think that the IP is mainly good for actually performance.

Sorry, acoustiglue but some of your statements are incorrect. IP is fine for being triggered by MIDI Clips.

I have just done the same as you described and DrumCore and IP (KP3.5) work perfectly here, so it sounds like a configuration issue:

I cannot tell exactly what steps you have done so I may cover some things you have already tried:
-- when you load a USD kit, can you trigger each drum kit piece using the keyboard in KP3.5 (or IP)?
-- are the kit samples loaded (i.e. you are not using "Purge" mode)?
-- can you open a MIDI clip (file, part) in your host and trigger the drums from there, e.g. by clicking the Piano roll)?
-- have you set each kit piece to GM mode (rather than iMap) as the DrumCore MIDI will be GM?
-- are all your Kontakt audio outputs routed to outputs in your host?
-- are the kit piece MIDI channels set correctly (or to "omni")?

Have a look through the "Infinite Player Tips & Tricks" thread - that might help too.

Perhaps you can describe what you have done so far, including a few screenshots.

and it just worked for me again so I don't know what I'm doing wrong at times.
