I have a problem. in short, im on a slave session of ableton receiving clock for tempo and to launch clips in time. im also running soft synths.

when the master hits stop and sends a stop message, it cuts my soft synth's audio. no release note trigger.

now, i very interested in the clocker plugin. my only question (and im on my knees begging) is can it receive clock to sync to? i see it can sync to host, but can it accept time code from a selectable midi port?

i can filter the stop message from the master, but if the slave goes for 5 seconds or so without clock data, it takes itself out of slave mode.

i want to have clocker match tempo with the master then continue giving temp to the slave even after the master sends a stop message.

is this do able...? i wish i could code sooooo bad right now! and this is driving me crazy.

Clocker stops with the host transport, so it won't help you directly.

However, something else to try: if you're using AU softsynths, try using VSTs instead. The reset-on-stop problem is AU-specific (and I would class it as a bug in Live, though the AU spec is a little vague on when the reset should be called).

thanks! i notice it happening with ableton plugins as well. what about a midi device before the au softsynth to "block" the reset or stop message to the synth. or is it ableton stopping the audio output after the synth?

Live sends an 'AU Reset' message directly to all AUs when the transport stops. There's no way to block it, unless the plug-in specifically supports that (some of mine do). VSTs don't have that message.

Can Clocker be modded so it can select which midi port to listen to just like selecting which port to send it to? I can then filter out the system stop message.

Clocker doesn't listen to a MIDI port - it just uses the host's internal tempo/transport information.
