Thin osx host for silent way

Is anyone aware of a good vst host besides a full-on DAW that silent way can be run in?
Hopefully something the does Tempo?
Would love to be able to fire it up lightly - it looks like Steinberg V-Stack would have been a good solution, but they no longer support it and it doesn't run on intel. I use Ugly VSTi for my soft synths and other plugs like that when I just want to play around with 1 plug without pro tools or logic up, but need something more robust than that (and with more than one plug instance) to do silent way. And tempo is kind of a must too, which these thin vst hosts seem to not have.
Clues?

Maybe Rax would suit your needs:

It's a bit like V-Stack, or Mainstage that comes with Logic Studio, but much lighter. AU Lab is another option, it comes with the free developer tools on OS X. As far as I know, the only way to get AU Lab on to your system is to install the developer disk contents.
Peace,
Andy.

Rax would be the first thing that comes to mind, but you might also consider Numerology (http://www.five12.com/) - maybe not an obvious choice but a cool and fairly lightweight host.
