I'm confused. Will the Fender and Ampeg components still mix 'n match with Amplitube 3 via Xgear?? Is there still an Xgear with AT3?

There's no more X-Gear. There's just AT3. It sort of takes over X-Gear's functionality in that regard, as far as I can tell from all the info out. Authorized and installed Fender/SVX just show up in AT3, no need for a separate program to do the work of one.

I imagine it has nothing to do with that, and everything to do with the question of where to put their resources. They already have what is arguably the best generation of 5150 amps (the block-letter unit with the big transformers) as a model, why make another model that's just a little bit different when they could instead spend that time modeling more varied stuff? Adding yet another 5150 amp would be, I think, a very low margin of satisfaction addition compared to the additions they have made. And, you know, Peavey has a ton of Peavey amps in ReValver, if you're very keen on Peavey's high gain sound they have a version that's just the Peavey and homegrown stuff for a low price. Personally I'm glad that IKMM chose to branch out even further rather than model such a similar amp when they're already revamping the good 5150 model they have.blank/diod wrote:Because Peavey has their own line of software amp sims and aren't very keen on sharing...?dubbelQ wrote:Why no Peavy? On a ReValver trivia note since you've got me thinking about it, it's funny to me that they are adding a 3120 model, since it is literally part for part identical to the XXX, it just ships with different power amp tubes than the XXX did. Since ReValver lets you swap out power amp tubes, I look forward to seeing what difference, if any, there will be between the two.

They are working on a Sampletank update. See IK's facebook page for a discussion of some of the (work in progress) features.Eddie(Soulseekers) wrote:highly pissed i thought they would be upgrading SampleTank but i guess not they are going to start catering to guitarist
At any rate, what's wrong with catering to guitarists? They just sold 4,000 units of guitar software in a few months in their group buy at the end of last year. Considering the length of this thread, I'd say they realize there's a sizable guitar audience out there.
As a side note, I'm NOT a guitarist, but even I'm impressed with Amplitude 3.

There are other Peavyamp too and I dont want to buy another ampsim to get more Peavysounds. No but more of similar Marshalls are okey for you?Agreed wrote:I imagine it has nothing to do with that, and everything to do with the question of where to put their resources. As pointed out we are definitely working on this. I've mentioned in other threads that the recording rooms in the AmpliTube gear pictures we've been posting are actually rooms build FOR SampleTank 3 recording/sampling. It is gonna be sick.Eddie(Soulseekers) wrote:highly pissed i thought they would be upgrading SampleTank but i guess not they are going to start catering to guitarist

Marshall. That is what I find shocking. I was hoping for a MKII.
And I really hope that a Hiwatt is well above another Peavey of all things on IK's list of priorities.

I can't help wondering about cpu use. Is it possible the difference in cpu use between v2 and v3 will be similar to that between v1 and v2?

This bit of plugin news from BBE puts the complaints about AT3 upgrade pricing into perspective:
The Stomp Ware plug-in suite is a digital toolbox consisting of eight plugins modeled from BBE's own line of boutique analog stomp boxes:
■ Free Fuzz: '70s fuzz.
■ Green Screamer: Vintage overdrive.
■ Mind Bender: Vibrato/chorus.
■ Opto Stomp: Optical compressor.
■ Sonic Stomp: Sonic Maximizer.
■ Soul Vibe: '60s rotary speaker simulator.
■ Tremor: Vintage tremolo.
■ Two Timer: Analog delay.
The MSRP is $215 and is available now.

No offense to anyone but I don't care if they upgrade Sampletank 2 to version 3.... someone needs to explain why this software is needed or even has a chance to sell when Kontakt 4 is x64 and has the largest supported third party libraries? It sounds good, it's powerful and it is user extensible?
Jim
PS - I am not trashing IK cause I truly am very excited about AT3.... looks like it is addressing almost all of the issues I have with AT2.

I have Kontakt 4 and lots of libraries for it, but what is missing for me and unfortunately this NAMM didn't bring and may never bring is a good workstation.... like a Fantom or Motif or Triton type stuff......not ultra realistic like my Kontakt libraries....an imitation of acoustic instruments, and synths etc....I think ST3 can be that..
