I'd also recommend jamstix as an endless source of midi files.
It takes seconds to generate a bar (or 50) of drumming and export it as a midi file(or drag into host). You can recompose the same bar(s) or fill(s) over and over for subtle variations each time and save a huge pile of different but related grooves into your library.
You can also import midi files and let Jamstix throw a bit of unique style to them and then export them again.
You could also just let it play grooves in real time :)

Would I be correct in assuming the Oddgrooves midis will work in EZ Player Pro?
The problem with perfection is it has no limits. Normally, once you obtain perfection, you realize how it could be better. (David Gibson-The Art of Mixing)

Interesting thought Chester, I have JS2 but have never quite got into it ... maybe its worth another shot, particularly the variations to a midi file idea!
Thanks

Yes they work but they are as named..ODD! I think they are more of a good way to hear how your kits sound, I have not found these ones very helpful for normal pop/rock kind of stuff..Nut thats just my opinion, others may really like them!

For normal pop-rock check Oddgrooves' four-four packs. The rest are more for prog-rock.

Can anyone tell me how to insert a global/group effect? Say I want to add reverb to the entire kit, how would I go about that? Is the ultimate studio space one of the options?

I have scoured the Kontakt manual with no luck...

btw - Earlier I had 2 kits that wouldn't play. I had to download the kits again and re-install them. That cured it, if it helps anyone...

Somewhere on one of the monster threads I saw a post by someone who was having a problem with the snares in some kits being inconsistent in volume, like the velocity triggering the drum is fluctuating when it is not. I seem to be having the same problem. I laid out 16 bars of midi snare hits, made sure the velocity was the exact same on every hit, and there is definitly flucuation in the volume. I checked and altered the snare velocity settings in Kontakt with no success. Anyone else noticed this?

Hi Quibb

There are two ways to do this. One is to not do it in Kontakt and use the host's send FX to set up a reverb and then pass all of the Kontakt tracks in your host through that.

If you really want to do it within the Kontakt interface, then it is also possible to set up send effects within Kontakt using the AUX outputs. In each instrument in Kontakt, on the upper right corner, there is a small little square with "AUX" written inside it. Click on this button. You should now see a grey bar appear at the bottom of the instrument box that says "Aux Sends" and contains four faders labeled "aux 1" to "aux 4". This lets you control your send volume to the auxillary channels. On the Kontakt mixer you should see four channels labeled "aux 1" to "aux 4". You can insert FX on these channels (such as the algorithmic reverb or the convolution reverb) and then set up your aux sends per instrument to use them. In this way you can apply an effect across all of the instruments in your multi within the context of the Kontakt interface.

what kit are you trying this with?
Nobody's a nobody...

OWD 4 ambient was one, but it also was a problem on 2 or 3 of the DM2 kits as well. Seemed to be happening on any kit I tried. Thanks for your reply.

Hi.
I've just download one of the multitrack kits I picked from the Group Buy from Downloadable sounds. It is the Drum Masters 2 NDV MT Gretsch® Kit (Multi-Track).

Now, I do the usual by dragging the .zip (which I made sure was the right size 1st) to my Infinite Library Installer & the blue line that shows the progress only goes 1/4 of the way & then stops? I've tried this 3-4 times now & same thing. I do know what I am doing so there is no problem there.

I can't figure out what the problem is?
Any idea as to why it will only go so far & then stop completely?

Please help.

Thanks,

I had this happen with several downloaded kits. The zip file is broken so you'll have to download it again and again until it works.
