:o I got an email 159 Euro so US$149 sounds like a bargain.

I'm still not clear if that's what was being alluded to when there were some comments about getting an additional discount if you already owned multiple (or in a lot of cases, all) the previous AT products.

Oh, and another question to those that have received the $149 email... is it a promo code (in which case you can't use jampoints)? Not really complaining, just basically trying to talk myself out of it (at least for now)!

The real question is.... Has this crap been solved? As long as it is still not reliable on OS X, it will be just another rip off.

Is that including VAT?

This new Amplitube looks great. I do have a few questions though...

Will this replace X-Gear, Amplitube 2, Metal, and Jimi Hendrix on my laptop, or will those old versions remain in addition to Amplitube 3.

Also, if I have songs in Logic, and concerts in Mainstage that use X-Gear as a plugin, will those be automatically updated to use Amplitube 3, or will I have to change it manually? Setting up Amplitube 2 in Mainstage was a bit of a pain, and I really don't want to do it again.

Not sure, but probably no to both questions.
Autoreplacing X-Gear won't work for various reasons (Plugin ID, differing parameters etc).
So I guess the old versions will remain untouched and you can manually change to AT3 as needed.
One thing that might be useful : If AT3 can load old X-Gear presets the transition will be lot smoother. IK :?: :?: :?:

This leads to the armaments race of the new products. Of course we can
gain of this, we get better products. I must admit that the software designers are modern heroes, to my opinion. And the IK is one of the best.
Thank you! I agree :)
But at the same time I can't help thinking that these guitar modelling plugins are already at the moment that sophisticated and versatile that the average user is using just a fraction of the features. Are we users more fascinated of the image of getting more and more and more every year than really USING the new possibilities in practise? If you use more time for buying new products than making music, there might be place for a serious soul searching regarding this question (anyway, I myself have recognize this danger).
Yes, there are definitely new features in AmpliTube 3 but I'd say the major portion of this release are requested user-friendly features (drag and drop, MIDI control improvements, for example) and improvement in the quality of the models. Not mainly any added complex features, unless the movable mics and similar are considered in that category. Personally, when a feature mimics a typical human/real-life use case and action, I don't find that to be a huge complexity add. The creative effects could be considered more complex to use in some ways, though, and I do not discount your point but want to make sure I show that the stress was on improved sound quality and added amps, effects, etc.
A couple of questions to the IK concerning the new AT3:

- for those clients who own all the other Amplitube products before, what new
models, effects, presets and other feature the AT3 gives (how much is the
AT3 overlapping the other AT products)?
http://www.ikmultimedia.com/amplitube/m ... einfo1.php for features, and you can get more specific information on the site. Great additions, for sure.
- will the X-Gear interface change with the AT (X-Gear2)?
AmpliTube 3 functions as X-GEAR did, and will house all of the installed and authorized products so the change is that AmpliTube 3 basically IS your X-GEAR.

This doesn't happen in what we've got now, and the newest X-GEAR resolves the problem for people. If it does not do so for you, let me know what your ticket number is and I'll have our Support Manager contact you. If it happens with the demo of AmpliTube 3 when that's out, of course we'd like to know that too.

Good questions. I will triple-check, since I'm not in the booth but I know we do have all of those installed on the same machines though I haven't fired up X-GEAR I have fired up individual AT2-based products with no issue. You should have no problem with existing projects based on that.

Since we are not running X-GEAR when you run AmpliTube 3 you'd have to change your projects to use AmpliTube 3. This is the least disruptive path, in my opinion but maybe I'm just a nit-picky control freak :)

Yes, susiwong, you can use the presets in AmpliTube 3 according to what one of our developers said to me yesterday. Good stuff.

There were very specific things that they requested were changed, rightfully so, and they did have that say as was stated here but you know we still got a lot of heat for it. No biggie, I can understand, especially when it comes out and blows other things right the heck out of the water :)

Thanks for the reply. Though, can you elaborate these:

-does the AT3 totally replace just AT2 and X-Gear or also Metal/Hendrix (or just partly)?
-when does the pre-order limited time special price offer end?

It replaces X-GEAR, AmpliTube 2, Hendrix, and Metal. The preorder lasts through February according to my sources.
