New session tool, WFSp lives!

Image
_______DOWNLOAD HERE_______

I recently released MFSp and have recieved requests for a Wav File Stripper.

In a nutshell, if you have a wav file with persistent loop points or cue points or other markers, dragging and dropping them onto WFSp will take this data out.
Basically it frees the wav file so you can use it in any other host, audio software or even hardware.

The great thing is its totally portable so it can come to a session with you. Also, it can handle multiple files simultaneously from local computer or over a network.

WFSp runs in XP, Vista and Win7 only (for now).

WFS is free donationware with a percent of proceeds going to a Haiti Relief fund (see blog for further details).

Please let me know if you have any problems, comments or opinions.

I personally wouldn't have any use for it, as I could do it with Sound Forge should the need arise- but I have occasionally used that function, so if I didn't have SF, I probably would be looking for such a thing.

Ok heres the 1st release version!

Image_DOWNLOAD HERE!_.

So as stated, the same premise as MFSp, drag file(s) to it that have Loop/Cue data and it will create 'stripped' versions that dont have any extra data (so they can be read, I have use use a new blank header ;)).

- Only tested on XP SP2. *Verified to run on Vista & W7
- Works only right now with Uncompressed PCM wavs.
- Runs in 'default compression mode'. Which is about 90% lossless.
- No network optimization yet. *Added algo
- Output files not yet tested in many editors.
- Still have to add wavpack license on 1st run. *Fixed
- ADDED 24 bit support (initial stage). *Updated

Please give it a run for me with different bit rates and clock speeds etc. Let me know if you run into any bugs or errors.
Also need to know if you can hear a difference in quality at all.

Thanks

Your welcome.

This is just the test version though. I will be posting an official one when I've hunted down bugs and added all features.

Let me know how it works for you please!

Just tested dragging a file from Edison to WFSp and it worked perfectly (didnt think it would) :D! This means you dont have to even drag from an explorer window.

Just tested and verified that WFSp runs stable over slow and fluctuating network speeds and connections (ie WIFI, dialup etc).
I noticed that the GUI has some redraw issues on older PCs. Please let me know if you experience the same.

I finally tested these after many months of delaying it.
I dragged a wave file into Edison in FL and sliced it and then saved that.
I dragged the sliced file to WFS and created a stripped version.
Then I dragged the stripped version back into Edison and it was clean with no slices.

I didn't have success with MFS. I thought that FPC midi files in FL might have extra data that could be stripped out because I think I had trouble with FPC midi files in the distant past where I couldn't get them to behave correctly outside of FPC. Anyway I noticed no difference between the stripped and non-stripped versions when dragging each into FL before and after using the tool. Maybe there wasn't any extra data to strip.

I doubt that I will test the external file stripper as I don't think I'd need it.

Sorry for the long delay in testing these.

Thank you! It's on my VST drive and I'm sure it'll come in handy. Does it strip RIFF chunks too?

Will check out whats in them.
Whats the strange behavior your speak of?

Yea it strips RIFF chunks also.

Let me know if you have problems with any wav files. There are quite a few different wav types but I think WFS covers them all.

Ok just did a quick convert of fpc_upbeatgroove_03.mid and fpc_DrumAndBass_01.mid.
Did not find any special CC, Track or Meta data.
MFS does replace a tempo track with a TimeSig track.

Please let me know exactly whats happening when you load the original or stripped version.

Sorry, went back and edited midi to wave in post after you read it, I guess...meant to write wave.

It's been so long as far as trying to do stuff with FPC midi files I don't remember exactly. I just sort of recall that they had something extra in them that disallowed them to be used outside of FL, but I don't remember right now what it was.

I couldn't see a difference in the FPC file before and after.

Right now I don't see much of a personal use for these primarily because I haven't seemed to need them yet. The only thing I could think of were the FPC files when I'd originally thought I'd give it a test.

The programs are easy to use, so I think they'll come in handy for those who need them.

Well they are there if you ever do need em ;).

I'm going to free WFS from the donation thing (had no idea of what I was doing) in a couple of days so check back soon or I will post here.

Thanks for testing..
