Yea I saw this today too. It looks like it could be fun, though, I need to read more about it.

I wonder if it will it work with other iphone apps?

Yes . Ion is Numark/Alesis's generic outlet ... kinda like Kroger frosted flakes .

I do believe the keys and wills will work for other apps as that has more to do with the iPhone SDK than the apps , but obviously the buttons won't unless the app has a user setup .

Post

If korg is smart they will do this with the DS-10 . Hell they should of followed the Microkorg with something like this as v2....

It sounds like the only iphone instrument that will work with this keyboard is the Akai software that comes with it. That is, you won't be able to use nlog, or any of the cool synths you may already have, with this keyboard.

BUT, if developers choose to, they can use an API that Akai is making available to enable other iphone apps to respond to this keyboard, too.

Anyone know of any third party iphone instrument makers who plan to upgrade their offering to work with the Akai keyboard?

Post

I follow this blag - http://the-palm-sound.blogspot.com/

he is pretty current with whats happening with iphone, et al, apps.

I thought I had read that the iPK will work with other synths. If not, i'm sure many developers will upgrade their code for it.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't find the Akai mentioned but it looks like a fast moving blog.

I think the answer is "yes and yes": Other apps will work with it, but they will require an update by each app's developer in order to do so.

theres a couple quick videos on there but they are probably from a few days ago which means like 50 posts down cause theres probably 10 new a day.
