Ya, I DO have the update, it's ok, only a problem with a few!!! But thank you!!bruckner2 wrote:check out this from above
I was having problems with ezplayer and oddgrooves using imap. I found out that I needed to update ezplayer to 1.0.5. This newer version has imaps that say "Ocean Way" and another that says "Sonic Reality - Drum Masters" (BTW I didn't uninstall first and the 1.0.5 version updated the older version)
When you're on the ezplayer download page at Toontrack, you'll see a red download button. Do Not use it. Scroll down and 'save target as' on the 1.0.5 version. Also, even though it says winxp 32-bit only, I haven't had any problems using it as a VST in Sonar 8.5 with Vista 64-bit.
Hope this works for you!

for whatever reason i have held off getting involved in phase 3 till today even though i've been really excited at being able to mess around with the ambient mic levels
what i'm after (and what i have always been after) is the driest kit i can find.....oh joy of joys when i loaded in the gretsch and pulled back all but the kit mic's...this is it.....what a sound...love it
but then disappointment....no crash and ride...because they are tied to and not mic'd independent of the overheads
adding back enough o/h to the cymbals completely colours the kit way away from the sound i am looking for....
i'm sure this is standard practice in studios but i'm wondering what can be done in this situation
even close-mic'ing would pick up noise but then there would be the option of gating to solve this issue....
what i'm hoping for (but doubting) is the possibility of using the direct sound of the cymbals without it affecting the whole kit
what d'ya think ???

Just cheat, use the individual instrument from the stereo kit.

It may have been a case where they were in the wrong hierarchy in a very short temporary moment before we caught it. The Global Patch Update can only replace files that are in the same place so a few leftover patches could have been there. But you can just delete those few duplicate patches and not worry about it at all. It doesn't affect anything being there or not being there.jarrydee wrote:Ya, I DO have the update, it's ok, only a problem with a few!!! But thank you!!bruckner2 wrote:check out this from above

Getting closer but it is still a week off or so. They're more complex than your typical midi loop.jarrydee wrote:Are we getting any closer to your midi grooves Squids?

good idea...tried it and it seemed ok except that the sound registered in the hi-hat and tom mixer levelstandalone wrote:Just cheat, use the individual instrument from the stereo kit.
and when i tried to swap out the snare for the OWD 4 the sound ended u coming through the bass drum sub channel and caused some problems
guessing that multi track kits can't import stereo kit samples
the only workaround i can see is to re-arm 2 logic tracks, run 2 instances of kontakt and run the main kit from 1 and the cymbals ( with all the other levels turned down) from the other instance

Well, in most multitrack drum miking situations there IS no "direct sound of the cymbals". That IS the overheads (apart from rare cases where some engineers also have direct mics on cymbals but most don't). So in a real live studio session you'd have to make compromises but in this situation you have many more options. Here is what they are:ebow wrote:for whatever reason i have held off getting involved in phase 3 till today even though i've been really excited at being able to mess around with the ambient mic levels

1. In the MT kits you have discrete mic mixing PER KIT PIECE so just turn down the overheards in the VOLUME panel on each of the kit pieces like kick, snare, toms and leave them up for the cymbals... that alone may solve your dilemma!
Actually I was going to give you other options but really the one above should do the trick the easiest way. Then just save back that multi so you can recall it again whenever you want that sound!

They can, but you have to re-route the output of the NKI instrument you bring in is all. You can do that right under where it has the name displayed in the instrument. Just put it through "MISC" Or something out of the way. Then you're fine to bring in stereo instruments if you want. That was my second suggestion. But if you are already working with MT kits then my first suggestion is the way to go.ebow wrote:guessing that multi track kits can't import stereo kit samplesstandalone wrote:Just cheat, use the individual instrument from the stereo kit.
If you want to work with the STm kits then swapping out kit pieces and making your own ideal Hybrid Kits is the best way to go since there are a variety of dry to ambient kit pieces in there. If you want MORE to choose from then we have TWO Drum Masters 2 Signature Kit volumes to choose from where you'll get half off (on both) to be able to have even more variety. I think a lot of people will want that because it is so powerful... plus there are cool things in them like the Stewart Copeland signature snare and other fun stuff to have on hand. We're trying to have that ready within the next 2 weeks or sooner and the pre-order will be up tomorrow along with a coupon JUST for people who bought Ultimate Studio Drums GB.

i understand what you are saying about the overheads but if i were paying for the studio time i wouldn't compromiseSquids wrote:Well, in most multitrack drum miking situations there IS no "direct sound of the cymbals". but anyway
i'll give your suggestion a try...i just assumed that the mixer volumes and instrument volumes were one and the same....you don't need to go to any extra trouble to write this in....if this works , it works
thanks

The upcoming manuals for STm and MT will explain this, so sorry you guys have to fly solo until that arrives - it is coming soon. But luckily I am here to be able to tell you things like that myself.ebow wrote: i understand what you are saying about the overheads but if i were paying for the studio time i wouldn't compromise....not if it had such an impact as it does......i realise that trying to record in a vacuum and discarding all extraneous noises is not a reflection on reality but i would like to get as close to it as possible...i want the sound of the piece and not the interpretation of the room or the mic....or at least as little as possible
but anyway![]()

In the studio - even if you're paying - you would still have to compromise.
