Looks like [BLOK] has got a site now and pricing has sort've been announced, at least for 'early-bird' people. http://www.blokmodular.com/
I've been checking out the Buzz/freeware version of it for awhile, really looking forward to the VST release. A look @ the todo log reveals alot of interesting stuff.. looks like the price will go up to 60 euro and that a user-area is planned, sounds like a patch library of sorts or something. Kinda cool considering the patches are all xml/copy/pastable from everything. Effect version is apparently planned too.. that would've been my first question.
I posted some infos on my site about it and a demo patch/mp3. Haven't been this excited for an upcoming plugin in awhile.
Here's my post.. http://www.lazytrap.com/?p=166
Anyone else following this? Looks like not much has been done yet to inform the general public since its still in a development state, but given kvr'ers ability to hunt stuff down im a bit surprised to not find a thread already dedicated to it.. does look like the alpha release hit the news section back in november.

I've already known about this thing since it was first announced. I just don't know how does it sound. It'd be great if you'd post more audio demos, the first was cool.
I love the idea of a minimalistic, simple modular.

From his website:
I have alot of respect for Zephoid, & wish him the best.
I don't understand why someone would develop something like this when there already is SynthEdit/SynthMaker (available for free w/FL-Studio & on the cover of ComputerMusic)/Max/many other similar programs. Hey even a VST shell for writing math codes as text would be more interesting. Now if would make a VST shell for Max/MSP5, or a ReWire for pd, then we're talking.Currently, the [BLOK] audiocore has only 4 voices available.. this low limit was chosen for historical CPU reasons. It might be fixed sooner or later.

Possibly because this is an entry-level modular aimed at newbies - something that Max and PD (and even SE / SM) aren't. It is very basic in it's current form but let's see how it evolves. If it gets people bitten by the bug and they move on to Bidule or the modulars you've mentioned or mebbe even coding then that's no bad thing IMO.re8 wrote:From his website:I don't understand why someone would develop something like this when there already is SynthEdit/SynthMaker (available for free w/FL-Studio & on the cover of ComputerMusic)/Max/many other similar programs. yeah, and what's with all those companies making cars when we already have the Volkswagen Beetle and the Ford Fiesta.re8 wrote:I don't understand why someone would develop something like this when there already is SynthEdit/SynthMaker (available for free w/FL-Studio & on the cover of ComputerMusic)/Max/many other similar programs.
An idiot on Set Theory:

The comparison to max/pd doesn't fly, they're not the same type of modulars.. same with se or sm really, though thats a bit closer. there is a big gap between synth building (se/sm), visual programming (max/pd), and just good old fashioned modular synthesis... and that's the attraction, its a quick modular plugin with plenty of goodies. i wouldn't sell it short as just entry level either (tho thats a nice added +), it is what it is.. a modular synth. some things i would compare it horizontally to are things like karmafx, nord modular, etc.
as far as why wouldn't someone buy CM or use Fruity Loops.. do you really want an answer to that question or are you just baiting an argument for your favorite host? lets not turn the discusion into childish crap... the intent of the thread is to talk about a new modular vst and a rather sweet one.

While I wait for my forum registration email, does anyone know if you get an authorized VST version if you donate? Or are we stuck with the VST demo until it is released?
