I'm done something wrong... I think.

I decided to take the leap into VSTis. Acid 4.0f is my main app, and it is a VSTi host - although I realize that most people probably wouldn't use it as theirs. Anyway, I was going thru my collection of VSTis and everything was going well until I came to Cheese Machine and Ticky Clav. When I clicked on them they dissappeared. They did not load and dissappeared from the list. The Angelina demo loaded and played just fine, as did many other VSTis. And the stand-a-lones work. All the VSTis are in a VSTi folder under "Programs.". What am I doing wrong? I am just getting my feet wet in this area so I feel sure it's something I'm missing.

DKeenum,
I've just tried CheezeMachine in Acid 4.0f and it's ok. Are you sure you haven't disabled these vstis in Acid ? You can select "vsti preferences" through the Insert -> Soft Synth menu, and chose which vstis you want available in Acid...

It is enabled (checked) in Acid. I went ahead and downloaded another copy of both and I'll try a "re-install." We'll see how that goes.
As for Acid: I don't really defend it much, because my opinion is that it doesn't matter which app you use as much as how well you use the app you have. Acid works for me.

I reloaded the VSTis, but I still have the same result. I'll poke around some more. Since you can load it, my assumption is that I've got something wrong.

Thanks for your help.

I'm stuttering! And I just looked at the title of the post. Sorry.
Well Ticky Clav now works fine, but the problem persists with Cheese Machine. I had a thought that there might be some other VSTi that is not playing nice. I'm going to try taking everything out and putting them back one at a time. Do you think that had any potential for success?

Of course it does. It'll help you to find if there's any other vsti causing you trouble...

I got it back!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is what I had to do:
run regedit
locate the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sonic Foundry\ACID\4.0\Metrics\VSTi Synth
Then delete the entire "VSTi Synth" key. Restart ACID and it rebuilds the VSTi folder. I still don't know what I did wrong to begin with... Maybe some poorly made VSTi... I did clean out the VSTi folder. But it works now, and all is right with the world.
