Its open source, you have to pay for "theres an app for that" similar stuff lol The truth is that Java Applets is what the rest of the world get for free while Apple locks you into paying. Whats cool and trendy about Apple? Steve Jobs paycheque :-)

The rest of the world?

You mean people in mental institutions?
Homeless people using an old Palm?
Hackers in Kazakhstan?

And what you call 'locking into paying' is called commerce in 'the rest of the world'. That's why Cubase isn't free either (Cubase locks you into buying, you could say), or Windows isn't free (Microsoft locks you into paying to use your computer!?!?!? Bastards!!!).

And for the rest of the world who doesn't like paying for stuff, there's always the $2400 Dell Pad. You can run free java apps on that.

Ahh, it seems I may have touched a nerve. Youre confusing hardware platforms with software. ipad is a platform. If everyone was so happy about being locked in - there would be no jailbreak mods. Mac fanbois are always saying its all about a premium product - well, in this case - its Dell that have the premium tablet product. Im sure Apple will catch up soon.

You seem to think I give a toss about the iPad, or Apple for that matter.
We're talking ridiculous arguments supporting Flash and Java here.

And nothing you've said has done a good job defending either.

Clearly you're just interested in making this a Mac bashing thread.

Paying over twice as much for, dare I say it, an iPad, compared to an iPod Touch is a bad decision. Apple, you did not even make it worthwhile to upgrade. At least in the PC world, we call it Moore's law, and classify the two year old PC as a fossil.

This makes no f**king sense. I'm so sick of Apple questioning my facility. As a COMPUTER user, I am outraged.

Returning to the thread to call bullshit on that.

Also, isn't Farmville Flash-based? I hate the sight of that thing, so yeah, that one's shit, but almost everyone I know plays it.
Great, one game. Not quite pulling the average up, but 1 to 100.000.000.000 isn't a bad start.
If you really think that there are not excellent games out there built with Flash, then you're living in a world where Kongregate and Newgrounds don't exist. Which may be fine for you, but for most indie games players and the millions of casual players out there it's not.

They cloned Reaper in Java?

Anyways, Processing is a pretty good reason for wanting Java support.

ah, sorry, so 3 out of 100.000.000.000 games
it's starting to look better for Flash
