Quick example of how it would look like in the synth.

Hope you don't mind Hlis93. Just thought your skin is the best one at the moment :)
This looks a lot like ACE.

My personal choice is for multree's round logo design, although I'd use a font with [edit:] LESS rounded edges and put some effects on it to 'special' it up a bit. :D

Just for fun :D
who'd get the $50 though... since these are all system20's ideas.. the texture on the font as well as the lightning stuff.... ;)

I gotta admit though that your execution is way better than his.

damn now I gotta vote for your logo design... honestly though as far as lightning FX logos go I almost like it.

I'm not too keen on 'up-specialing' logos tbh.

Logos need to be quite small when they need to be put on a graphical user interface. Also I like it when they are worked into the artwork as opposed to sitting on top.

saulis logo works really well here it's simple yet distinctive. I doubt that lightning fx would look good on a GUI... even if they would it'd still be cheesy

that's why I only design logos in grey/white (black is a bit to heavy for my taste) the GUI designer can always adjust the colours and add fx if they think it's needed.

that being said I really like the glossy fire effects you did on that O
do you mind sharing how you've done that? which app are you using?

yeah I liked saulis' stuff too, perhaps a little too angular for my taste.

I wasn't talking about a lot of 'specialing' (lol) on yours just little to bring it in line with hlis' lovely work ;)

This one, really nice logo IMHO maybe you could try it with a sharper font that's also a little chunkier, if it works I think we'll have a winner ;)

(edited my above post, I meant less rounded edges to the font :D )

What? I don't think so.

Spot on.

I don't know how system20's logos would fit into a GUI, too flashy. However, they'd look great in a product page.

IMO, Mike should use your logo & sauli's for the actual GUI, and use system20's in Supercore's product page. That way everybody wins :D

I agree, for the gui itself it has to be clear and concise otherwise like you said multree it could look cheesy

These are pitches for the "competition"
if they get Mike's vote - fine
if not (and it looks like this is going to be the case) they'll be put back in my drawer and I'm not letting people use them.

this wasn't a charity gig... times are tough - not really but they have been better - hehe.

on a side note: if people don't recognize the symbol as "a sphere/planet whose mantel has been cut open so you can see the core" I guess I failed to get that idea across visually
OK then. It was a suggestion...perhaps worded badly, I was very tired. I'll stay away from comments on logo comp because I'm working on something different, it's not really a concern to me away since the gui I'm doing will have it own logo.

The decision is ultimately mine to make.

So many good designs already.

I did not know that was a planet with a chunk taken out. Good idea. However, if you are going to follow that path, then I would like to see it look more like a real planet, photo-real, with layers and the lava center.

Scoobz design is awesome as well. So far, my favorite font. I love the silver metal outlining. Great stuff! I would lose the red superhero look beneath the logo and put it on a textured 'wall'. I LOVE the lightning and fire - make sure the 'O' is very clearly seen - I love the 'nuclear reaktor gone awry' look. It is what I envisioned. Both System 20 and Scoobz get high marks for their designs because those elements make SuperCore look like its going to EXPLODE. That said, System20, I do not like the obvious reaktor/radiation logo - too fps game-looking for me. If this was the next Half Life or something, it would be perfect. However, you were on the right track with the original embossed one with the lightning shooting out. Yep, I agree (and didn't even see), I don't like the devil ears and beard. Enlarge the 'O' (make the 'O' bigger than all the other letters by a bit) and keep the sparks and lightning strikes.

Here is my take on the design for anyone's entry. As long as it's readable, I would certainly use it on the gui - but remember, it's going to be pretty small (just replace this logo with SK's and you have the size allotted.

The skin designers are going to need this logo with transparency so that they can incorporate it into their skins (so that any fire and lightning effects show through). If the skin is a brighter one, then some shadowing or something will need to be implemented.

I will be asking for the winning entry in 300 dpi, original layered file and the finished size needs to be 11 x 8.5 landscape - print ready, pretty much. The reason for this is because there is also a manual that accompanies the software and it may get printed in the future. I also plan on advertising and will be using the logo prominently in the advertisements: print, web and possibly TV.

hey scoobz... yeah the part about the round font confused me and then KvR was down so I experimented with one of the others...

Image

the spherical part should be more clear now... but It doesn't work AT ALL at the size designated for the LOGO in the GUI....

so I'm withdrawing my entries from this contest....

I've already spent too much time on all of this...
