multree wrote:hey scoobz... yeah the part about the round font confused me and then KvR was down so I experimented with one of the others...

the spherical part should be more clear now... but It doesn't work AT ALL at the size designated for the LOGO in the GUI....

so I'm withdrawing my entries from this contest....

I've already spent too much time on all of this...
Well, your work is much appreciated and quite good. Thanks for taking the time.

Quick example of how it would look like in the synth.

Hope you don't mind Hlis93. Just thought your skin is the best one at the moment :)
This looks a lot like ACE.
What? I don't think so.
not a lot but it has a resemblance....

OK thats right they are both gray with orange indicators with is a normal color of choice for me because it looks good on gray. I'm getting pissed off now I'm going to sign out and get some sleep before I say something I'll regret. Shit like this is something I'm very touchy about, I don't steal anyones shit. I have over 100hrs on this at my own expense. so go worry about your $50.

@multree I hear ya, I think if it were in the format of the post I quoted you'd be ok. I liked the understated logo (it's a solid idea) and I agree the bells and whistles detract from the simplicity that made it work.

I think it's unfair to ask for the PSD file too, surely an uncompressed BMP is fine? You don't get all the schematics when you buy a car.

I could resize and adjust the resolution but I'm working at 2000x400 70dpi, that's more than enough for the job IMHO

I tried your ideas though mike, here it is, sans supermaness and on a textured BG.

I think it looks better with out the carbon fibre personally....

sorry Hlis,

didn't want to offend you or anything and I didn't intend to suggest that you are stealing or ripping anybody off.

it's like... "that song of yours sounds a lot like pearl jam! nice!"

honestly though I do think they have their similarities (grey & the orange thingy around the knobs) but are far from looking alike.

please forgive my temper tantrum I get taht way when I'm tired. I'll go take my med and cool off.

I'm glad I pulled out before I read this....

would've been a cool idea to post all this before everybody started creating all those logos.

you do seem to expect a lot for $50

I am very confused.

Why is choosing a dpi range in your graphics program a reason to be upset? Unless you guys made the logos at 72dpi thinking it was for screen use only.

I am a page designer (not a logo designer) and I do this all the time (provide the layered file and dpi range of their choice) for my clients and they don't get 'pissed off'. I always start my projects at a high resolution 'just in case.' It was the way I was taught 'on the job' at Eckerd Corporation many moons ago. I figured most people do it that way.

Same with providing the layered file. If I need to make a change, I do not want to have to keep asking YOU to make the change for me. Or, if the skin designers need a change they can just make it.

Please explain why this is so upsetting to all of you? I just don't get it.

Very nice. Spot on. Can the fire be a little less blurred - more defined? Just curious. I would like to see through it a bit to see the 'O' more.

This is my #1 choice so far. I LOVE it. The lightning bolts are just amazing!

This is what I was envisioning all along.

Have you given up? I LOVE this design and it is a hard choice so far.

Hi Mike,

I guess it would have been superfine
if you laid out the rules from the start.

I'm no Logo designer as well
I'm a GUI designer first and foremost (at least as far as design goes)

I tend to work at 72dpi and that's fine for a GUI
suddenly we're supposed to hand in 300dpi files
changing from 72dpi to 300dpi requires a lot of adjustments
especially for people that used layer styles...

Photoshop says it'll adjust those as well (but VERY badly I might add)

secondly you are not anyone's client here. you are having a contest where the winner gets $50 from you.

of course a contest has it's advantages you get to see loads of ideas for free but it has it's disadvantages as well.... you're not the client.

asking people to change this and that in their logo might work if your're the client (it certainly does... it's just something I could never live with) I simply think it's kinda strange in this situation...

maybe the whole process was wrong.

ideally I think this would have been better:

1. you state everything you want in a logo
2. you open the contest and invite people to join
3. people send you their logos
4. you rank them and decide which one wins.

alternatively

simply choose somebody with a portfolio you like and negotiate how you gonna work together.
