Sorry, just to be clear, for my part I'm quite happy to let it stand as is - I wouldn't want you to have to redo the whole thing just to get more-or-less the same end result (as I'm sure you could, given enough time).MOK19 wrote:No doubt. I could use some suggestions for a freeware compressor/stereo delay/reverb... Maybe I can make it in time.hakey wrote:but rules is rules.... as some might say.

Likely, better results, considering C4's loadout.
They're not bad, but certainly not renowned.
...Although, now I need a compressor that I can sidechain. I really need sidechaining, as my bass parts interweave, and the kick is meant to have primacy.
Anyone got a suggestion for a good sidechaining compressor? any that are VST 3? I'm sorry to bug you all with this nonsense, I've never been much of a VST collector.

Wow! so much to catch up on!! .... Sorry guys, had a busy day, and have to head to a gig soon .. I'll do what I can re. removing tracks from the folder as requested, but the other issues are gonna have to wait ... good luck 'laundering' those illegal tracks guys

OK, I'm back from the gig ... still dont really have time to get my teeth into the latest issues raised, but just want to clarify something.
No mention of disqualification there
... but thanks to you guys who have done the naming and shaming etc. at this period where I have been a bit snowed under.
As for the named and shamed, Hey, you're welcome! ... cheers for the tracks! ... if you cant clean them up re. the rooools in time for the close of entries, then you're gonna miss out on votes, cos the other contributors are gonna make up the vast majority of the 'votah-quotah' ... but you're still welcome ... I view your contribution to the comp as something gained, not lost, and if you're out of luck this time, there's always the next one
Anyway ....
I've listened to a random selection of 5 tracks now ...and already, I am officially excited!!! ...and more than rewarded for getting this comp going! ... if the rest are like I've heard so far, I'm gonna have to invent new words to describe the general standard/quality/nature of the material ...!
... fantastic doesn't cover it! ... where did this synth come from??? Is it a case of you guys just getting better at this OSC thing? Honestly, when I wrote that I had underestimated this synth, i didnt realise how much I'd underestimated the beast ... but now listening to your tracks!!
Thems the rules!Hosts native EQ is acceptable, but otherwise such Fx must .....
*be freeware, and easily available via download.
*generally usable in a wide range of hosts
*not be used in such a way as to transform the sounds to a degree
which makes them unrecognisable as those obtained from Rogue
..... otherwise you will be named, shamed, blamed, tamed, maimed, flamed, perhaps even framed! ( but you still might win a prize )

Shyte! Just when I wanted to upload, I found that it lacks some panning automation
I hope there's still time before the deadline, just need a couple of hours to come home and make the bastard sound right! Do I still have time, tattie?

Been looking through this myself, and all I could find in the freeware world was Slim Slow Slider's Side Chain Compressor, which works good but is finicky with the levels imo.MOK19 wrote:...Although, now I need a compressor that I can sidechain. Thanks all for the suggestions. Boy, I tried getting some of those going, but I must be doin it wrong. I couldn't get them to register any sidechain input.
However, I did find the twisted lemon sidekick- that one seems to manage it's own sidechain signal busses, independent of the host. It's buggy on my system, making me crash, but it works some of the time, which is good enough.
Boy, tattiemannie, I must be reading your words wrong, as your tone makes it seem as if I was seeking to have an added edge. I simply misread your wording of the rules.
Fortunately, I'm all fixed up with replacement freeware vst's, and things pretty much sound the same... Only problem is that, not knowing these new compressors, now I've got clicks and pops all over the place. Bleh. If I can get my system to not-crash long enough, and if I can get this sidekick VST to remember it's settings, I'll bounce it out and rejoice in finally bein done.

Hey, MOK19, if you can find freeware Sidekick v3, it'll be much easier. For now only v4 shareware is available. I can upload it somewhere, but I don't know if it will be legal. (I guess it's OK tho).
