I don't want to sound to harsh, but I haven't liked any of the 3-D core permutations. Sorry, but they don't do anything for me.
One thing you could perhaps try doing is incorporating the "core image" into the logo by using it as the "O" rather than having it tagged on the end? IDK.

I also think that the lightening and explosion effects on some of the logos detract from the brand name because they draw my eye to the effects, rather than the name.multree wrote:
@SciFiArtMan, perhaps you could show us some color variations in red, orange and "nuclear green?"synaesthesia wrote:I like this one best because it's been designed, rather than had ten different effects thrown at it. However, I suspect that Mike will by seduced by shapes and colours...

yeah I like the 2D versions better as well...
if you want a 2D version and the Sphere as the O simply page up a couple of pages and you'll find it.
all my designs are not part of this competition any longer though

One final variation of the logo.
This time slightly more aggressive.
BIG

small for the GUI

small without outline.

No hard feelings though.

Well if we're talking about what we think it should be, this would be my choice....
(a combinaton of all the best ideas)

but technically this is already withdrawn before it's entered
and it's not me deciding

Some variations on a theme. The concept is that the logo (on the plug-in at least) will only be about 3"x.25" at best, so there's little room for too much detail as it will simply get lost in the resolution.
Also, Mike has been calling this beast SuperCore from day one, not SUPERCORE or SuperCORE, or supercOre.
So it seemed only fitting to explore that angle.
Next, if I understand the concept of this new tool, the core is six-fold, hence the variations of six. Geez, you could spend a lifetime exploring the whole "core" design! At least these designs maintain their integrity when reduced to app size.
Also, the gold bevel effect because they mix well with currently available, or forthcoming skins. I tried some cooler chromes and brushed aluminum type effects, but they tended to clash with some current skin layouts - then again, everything changes!
Finally, sorry for the zebra-stripe layout, hopefully each design can be considered on its own merits, and not viewed as part of a nightmarish test pattern!

Really great stuff SciFiArtMan and I REALLY like your explanations and thoughts regarding why you created what you created.
I have indeed called SuperCore the way it is spelled, caps and all, since day one.

not half bad.... but as I said the planet thingy doesn't look good at all at a tiny size.scoobz wrote:Well if we're talking about what we think it should be, this would be my choice....

Love the fact that you added some perspective to the planet's mantle - nice touch
it's the little things that count and that I tend to forget
oh and it's a bit to much of this famous "up-specialing"

[edited as first design too similar to previous entry]
...going for a sleek minimal feel, waves are supposed to represent the diff layers in the synth:

the top one is similar to what I actually have on my guievilmarshmallow wrote:Hey Guys!
Great work so far, but I have to admit to having a preference for clean, minimal logos...so here are a cpl of ideas.
Please note....I am NOT a designer, never have done any design work...I do not know what I am doingthese are just some rough ideas.
Whether they would work with the skins, I'm not sure - the colours would prob have to be modified...any hoo...
this one on a similar trip to the other designs we've seen so far:
this one more Corporate, could do with a bit of work...just wanted something that incorporates the layered waves of the instrument
I have a cpl other ideas, might try to get them down if I find the time.
cheers!
