it might shock you to know, but some humans have the ability to extrapolate from previous experience.generalstargazer wrote:how can there be any real conclusions when the thing isn't even out yeteduardo_b wrote:So no conclusions yet regarding the unfortunately named iPad?
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Umm.. no...whyterabbyt wrote:unfortunately, when the swelling goes down, it'll be an iPod again.spaceman wrote:In that case the iPad is going to be swell
10" > 3"
The increased size of the screen alone will open up so much more possibilities in terms of user experience. And then there's all the new UI widgets and mechanisms introduced for the iPad that are not available on the iPod.
There's a huge potential in the iPad for being another gamechanger if you care to look past the raw spec-list and think about the device creatively (like thousands of developers will inevitably).
A lot of spec-obsessed tech-kiddies slamming the iPad on blogs will have to eat their words in a couple of months when the full potential of the device will become clear even to them.

Yeah, but that applies to almost any device/gadget, right? I could say that all the tablets coming this year have potential for being game-changers but in the end it all boils down to developer support. If Apple manages to get a lot of people to develop killer apps, then yeah, despite all its shortcomings, the iPad could be huge (brambos wrote:

I'm not so sure of this. It's nothing like an iPod or iTouch in size. It sits between a netbook and a smartphone, but is neither one. It will have some applications, but that doesn't make it a gamechanger. It's not exactly convenient to carry unless you have something to carry it in. The jury is way out on this one, particularly at the prices announced for it.brambos wrote:There's a huge potential in the iPad for being another gamechanger if you care to look past the raw spec-list and think about the device creatively (like thousands of developers will inevitably).
