Anyone know of software, or even where I can simply get hold of a blank TAB that can be edited? I want to type out tunes that I learn in TAB, and at present I am writing the notes by hand which seems a little archaic.
I am specifically interested in mandolin TAB, but I alos play guitar.
Something that comes out like the tunes on Nigel Gatherer's site would be great:

Many thanks.

I know of score programs like masterworks, but that does not do tab, but cheap.
Very expensive and probably an overkill is Finale, that should do tab, but not tried it myself.

It would be good to know of a cheaper (or free) alternative for sure

Guitar Pro (http://www.guitar-pro.com/) is probably best alternative if you are willing to spend some cash.

Can any of the those TAB software imports audio file (wave) for music background? It would be nice to import tempo based audio clip, starting from beginning and import it into TAB software. Then just enter the notes for solo guitar for example.
Thank you

Hi,
I used to be the marketing manager for Igor Engraver (a competitor to Finale and Sibelius). The software is now sadly obsolete but I think you can still download it from www.noteheads.com for both PC and Mac. The tab feature really shines. Take a look at this movie I created back in the days: http://www.noteheads.com/movies/Advanced_56k.mov .
