Yep, you read the title right, this is the comp that takes us through the 1st anniversary of One-Synth-Challenge :)

OSC13 will feature the revered Synth1 ... as the first comp did ...except this time, we will all use Synth1 ... and not whatever takes our fancy! :roll:

Create a track using only Synth1 for all the sounds, including percussion! ... if you dare!!

Download Synth1 here...
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/214.html

* * * * * * THE RULES ( please read fully) * * * * * *
The track can be made in any host.

All the sounds in our tracks will be created by Synth1.

* * * FX * * *
Synth1 has great integral fx, so I'm gonna have to be a bit cruel here!
Fx are limited to
Reverb, Dynamics ( comp, limit, gate ), ... that's all you're gonna need! .. but I will allow EQ plugs ( inc. exciters etc ) and Stereo fx ( pan/autopan/width enhancers etc ).

Other than the hosts native EQ,
All Fx used must .....
**be freeware, and easily available via download.
**generally usable in a wide range of hosts
**not be used in such a way as to transform the sounds to a degree
which makes them unrecognisable as those achievable from Synth1.
..... otherwise you will be excecuted!!!!! :x :hihi:

*** There is no track length limit.

* * * * * How to Submit your Track * * * * *

**** Finished tracks, in mp3 format, should be uploaded here ...

http://www.4shared.com/dir/21373365/665 ... lenge.html

* Please post in this thread when you upload a track, that way I can prevent
abuse of this public folder. Anything uploaded without an accompanying post
here will be deleted.

For the sake of clarity, name your track in the following format ...

.... Title of Track - Artist Name ( in that order pleeeze! )

* Before you do that though, create a notepad/text file and describe briefly what you have used ( host, how many instances of synth1, which fx, how many instances.. etc. )
....... keep it short though, that way it can be read in preview mode without the need to be downloaded.

Save the notepad/text file as the title of your track, that way it will sit above or below the track itself when you upload it, and not get mixed up with any others.
( feel free to post or PM me if you have any problems uploading )
**Please do not post seperate, external links to tracks you wish to be included in the comp.

CLOSING DATE for submissions is 25th of Feb.

* * * * * How is the comp judged? * * * * *

The comp will be judged by the votes of KVR members. Depending on the number of submitted tracks, the voting may take the shape of a single vote poll, or a more flexible multiple vote option.

* * * * * And the prizes? * * * * *

FX For Synth1 ?? Gotta be kidding ! other than EQ there shouldn't be much needed!

Oh well, here goes :D

Thanks again to Tattie for all his hard work.

Post

Not my favorite synth at all, but it should be interesting for me to see if I manage to squeeze something out of it anyway :)

Post

perhaps I will give this one a try :) as I like the nord lead sounds ...

Post

Also, I just found this and since people here seem good about sharing sounds etc. it should be ok to share what I found

http://sonictransfer.com/synth1-free-vs ... izer.shtml

It has an article on making a kick drum with a synth.

Yeah abstractcats, Even when I was half way through typing the word 'reverb' I had to fire up S1 and ponder! :)

Post

I will be donating prizes, but I will announce them later down the road, as some new products from us may be on the horizon that will be VERY popular.

Stay tuned . . .

When I have to wash my teddy bear, I just take the washing machine in bed with me. It's a bit noisy, but it 's warm and smells good. And you don't have to buy her expensive gifts or take her out for dinner. (OK, it's getting late and it's been a long day)
Anyway, looks like we will have some stuff to fight for, great! :)

Man, I've been gagging for a Synth1 OSC since OSC started... I'm not missing this FOR THE WORLD!

+1

Anyway, I'll enter just for fun, but I'm a little scared, as there are Synth1 gurus, and I haven't done a single track using Synth1 :oops:
But there's that tune in my head that desperately needs to be rendered :D

You can use an arp and a gated sound for a rythmic base, a low frequency pad and a filtersweep pad to give some phat, pick a lead that stands out from those sounds, and give it a long release and deep reverb and some chorus, to be your ambience. Make a 10 minute track or loop out of this, to practice your lead licks :)

hey glokraw ... good to hear from you again!

Good to see a positive start to the thread :)
