Build 2050: DirextX audio seems not to work! - fixed

I just want to note that I had similar trouble setting DirectX audio in build 2050 as I already reported with the experimental build 2049.

It's not a big issue since I'm normally using ASIO but once there is any DirectX audio selected Cantabile crashes all the time. I can only fix this by deleting Cantabile's "settings.ini" file.

Anyone noticed this in 2050 too?

I think this should be fixed as losing the "settings.ini" file isn't the most comfortable situation when one just tries DirectX and runs into permanent crashes... :shock:

Thanks for reporting this. There's actually a number of known issues in 2050 all of which I'm actively looking into - expect a new build in the coming days.

I'm actually considering dropping support for DirectX - it's not real reliable and now that asio4all has an x64 version there's very little need for it.

In the meantime, if anyone is truly stuck, build 2049 is available from the download page - http://www.cantabilesoftware.com/download .

It still seems to happen on my pc with experimental 2050.

There is also something odd when using Asio4all and changing audio ports assignments in the Asio4All control panel - which finally works on top of the pc's DirectX sound somehow system too...

I still haven't understood how to "consistently" reproduce the problems but I will observe further. Probably it's really related to my realtek drivers only.

Finally I don't want to confuse others, there is no audio problem with Cantabile and Asio4all if you just use that the "normal" way and don't stress setup variations like I did for test purposes... :D

Yet another experimental build is available now to hopefully fix the DirectSound issues...

DirectX audio driver works down to 512 samples buffer - 0 additional buffers on my pc now.
