a MPC has 960 ppq. i am not that familiar with FL but i doubt its just another notation for the same value in FL?

I have a MPC2500 and the manual says 1/4 note = 96 ticks. That is 96 ppq i believe. Unfortunately there is no reference to ppq in the Akai manual. I just assumed that was just another way of saying it. Please correct me if I am wrong. Do the various MPC models have different ppq?

Have fun, Mark

I have just had a look at akiapro site and see that the 5k indeed has 960ppq. My question is answered. Cheers

well it's gotta be Pro Tools, because it's the most expensive and is still 32 bit. or, it's gotta be FL9, because they get angry and defensive over there

ok so I am confused now, what actually governs midi timing ? The DAW ? The Soundcard or a mixture of both ?
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

I workout REAPER's MIDI everyday and it's still looks and feels sloppy. Maybe its genetics.

Doesnt it depend on the size of your mididata? I mean one mans sloppy midi is another mans tight midi...

thanks for the correction. i am the fool ;)
actually i have a ASQ-10 (old model, which does have 96ppq). however Akais are rock solid. and thats because of:
@LeVzi: as far as i understood efluon the OS is the main factor.

+1...I think this is a non issue, I have never heard of anyone complain of midi tightness. If you ask me the question is the same as asking which lake has wettest water. No offense intended towards the OP.

I have. MIDI timing is inherently inaccurate, as its actually impossible to send two events at the same time: they have to form a queue. Add dodgy OS / USB timing on top and it can start to be a real problem. Its a non-issue for me as my keyboard playing sucks and invariably gets quantized anyway.

<edit> I'm talking old-skool midi using a DIN cable, not internal DAW midi which has no such problems.

Post

do people nowadays have problems with timing and their daws?
