Palm muted guitar samples

I tried lots of big libraries and instruments, but I just can't find a good set of palm-muted electric guitar samples.
Yes, all guitar libraries come with palm-muted samples, but they seem to be the least important samples in the set. I'm tired of finding only one sample for each note, or maybe two, for double tracking.
When playing rock, maybe this single sample is useful, but in Thrash, or Power Metal, you often (I'd say always) need play 20 or 30 palm-muted samples in a row, and with 3 or 4 samples per note it's impossible to play a speedy riff without noting the awful sample repetition.
I don't know of any library with at least 8 or 10 muted samples per note to avoid this. Do you know any of them?

But you seem to know enough about guitar, why not just play a real one yourself?

Have you heard the Strawberry Electric Guitar sample library for Kontakt? It not only has palm-muting, but several degrees of mutedness. It has 2x round robin samples for both downstroke and upstroke pick direction.grinkor wrote: When playing rock, maybe this single sample is useful, but in Thrash, or Power Metal, you often (I'd say always) need play 20 or 30 palm-muted samples in a row, and with 3 or 4 samples per note it's impossible to play a speedy riff without noting the awful sample repetition.
This demo demonstrations some palm-muted notes as well as squeals and other cool features--it was also played directly from a MIDI keyboard: http://www.orangetreesamples.com/audio/ ... raptor.mp3
Strawberry Electric Guitar also has a single button to automatically double-track the guitar.

You will not find better mutes than in our upcoming library Shreddage (to be released Feb 14th) - http://www.impactsoundworks.com/
Just compare our demos to anything else.
Here are a couple ones that use a ton of fast mutes:
http://www.zirconstudios.com/music/wips ... ertion.mp3 (full song)
http://www.impactsoundworks.com/audio/demos/BLEED_4.mp3 (fun mini clip)
The reason I'm so confident is because when we set out to design this product, which is oriented toward rock/metal rhythm playing specifically, OUR biggest complaint was weak palm mutes in other libraries that made it impossible to play fast. So, we recorded 8x round robins per note AND multiple VARIATIONS of palm mutes. If you're using the powerchord mute patch you actually have *24* palm mutes per note (fast/tight mutes, full mutes and half-mutes.)
Plus, it's DI and does double-tracking or even quad-tracking if you want.

Seriously, Zircon's Shreddage is going to pwn every single rhythm/chugga/muted/etc electric guitar library out there. I mean, just listen to the demos--totally indistinguishable from real guitar.
So sexy. I've been bugging him for months now to let me buy it early. AND IT'S only $50! I mean, that is a STEAL. The closest thing I have right at the moment is RealStrat, and that's 5x more expensive!
I own a LOT of plugins, and I have very little need to expand my collection, but I'm totally grabbing this the first day it's released.

Then you must not be a metal guitarist.BGC wrote:totally indistinguishable from real guitar.

I appreciate your condescending attitude, but you're telling me that you can tell the guitar is not real in the demo he just linked? I seriously doubt that.vespers75 wrote:Then you must not be a metal guitarist.
There is no "one sound" for metal, there's variances like in any other genre, and a lot of that is left up to the processing and mixing, in this case, zircon is using Guitar Rig. Maybe you don't agree that his tone is as metal as it "should be" or something, but his product is still leaps and bounds ahead of any other guitar library I've come across, including Thrash.

You're welcome.
Doubt what you want, but I've been playing metal guitar for 20 years, and could care less what anyone thinks that I can hear or not.BGC wrote:but you're telling me that you can tell the guitar is not real in the demo he just linked? I seriously doubt that.
And a real guitar is still leaps and bounds over any sample library. Congrats on all your accomplishments. I'm glad you've been playing guitar for 20 years, but I have ears as well my friend, and Shreddage sounds amazing, and it blows the pants off of Thrash. It's a good fit for someone who wants a virtual instrument instead of playing a real guitar (not everyone has 20 years to invest in learning one) and besides, I'm not really sure why your answer to the OP is "just play a real guitar instead" as that completely doesn't help in any way. And I'm still convinced that 99.9% of most people will not hear a difference with Shreddage, especially as far as the demos ziron's provided go. Maybe you're in that .1% who can and if so then congratulations to you, but in the meanwhile, feel free to spend the next 20 years practicing how to not be a pompous douche to strangers.vespers75 wrote:And a real guitar is still leaps and bounds over any sample library. Maybe if you learned to play an instrument rather than use sample libraries your comments might have a little more weight behind them, but throwing around pointless insults simply because you disagree with someone with experience playing the instrument just sounds like arrogance.BGC wrote:Congrats on all your accomplishments. If you want to know, where it does not sound like a real guitar... listen to the volume envelope.

Now, now... Let's not continue fighting anymore. I am a metal guitarist too, and agree that real guitar will always sound better. Despite that, I'm still going to buy shreddage the day it is released because it sounds awesome. I think it is absolutely great for what it does!
